Phillies | Jeremy Hellickson acquired from ARI

Sat, 14 Nov 2015 12:57:04 -0800

Updating a previous report, the Philadelphia Phillies have acquired SP Jeremy Hellickson from the Arizona Diamondbacks, in exchange for minor league P Sam McWilliams.

Fantasy Tip: Assuming the Phillies make no other major starting pitching moves this offseason, Hellickson is expected to be one of the team's top three starters entering 2016, along with Aaron Nola and Jerad Eickhoff. He went 9-12 with a 4.62 ERA in 27 starts for Arizona in 2015 and is expected to fill the veteran innings-eater role with the Phils, although he could be traded to a contender if he gets off to a strong start. Hellickson could be of interest to fantasy owners in NL-only and deep mixed leagues.

Diamondbacks | Jeremy Hellickson traded to PHI

Sat, 14 Nov 2015 12:47:47 -0800

Updating a previous report, the Arizona Diamondbacks have traded SP Jeremy Hellickson to the Philadelphia Phillies, in exchange for minor league P Sam McWilliams.

Fantasy Tip: This appears to be a salary dump for the Diamondbacks, who were scheduled to pay Hellickson $6.6 million on the final year of his contract next season. McWilliams is a 20-year-old right-hander who went 0-2 with a 3.27 ERA in seven starts for the Phillies' Rookie-level Gulf Coast League affiliate in 2015 and he is not considered to be a major prospect.

Phillies | PHI interested in Jeremy Hellickson

Sat, 14 Nov 2015 12:09:38 -0800

The Philadelphia Phillies are reportedly working on a trade to acquire SP Jeremy Hellickson from the Arizona Diamondbacks, according to multiple sources.

Fantasy Tip: Hellickson went 9-12 with a 4.62 ERA in 27 starts for Arizona last season, with 121 strikeouts over 146 innings. The Phillies are in the market for veteran starting pitching depth and the 28-year-old right-hander would certainly fit the mold of an innings-eater. However, he doesn't project to be much more than a back-of-the-rotation guy for NL-only and deep mixed fantasy leagues.

Padres | Yangervis Solarte not in lineup

Sat, 26 Sep 2015 17:17:55 -0700

San Diego Padres 3B Yangervis Solarte (hamstring) is not in the starting lineup against Arizona Diamondbacks SP Jeremy Hellickson Saturday, Sept. 26. 2B Cory Spangenberg will play third base and bat second.

Fantasy Tip: Spangenberg ($4,200, 8.4% of cap) is hitting just .143 over the last seven days, and he is hitless in his last three games. You can find better options at FantasyScore for the same price.

Diamondbacks | Jeremy Hellickson starting Monday

Mon, 14 Sep 2015 10:26:34 -0700

Arizona Diamondbacks SP Jeremy Hellickson (hamstring) returns to make the start against the San Diego Padres Monday, Sept. 14.

Fantasy Tip: Hellickson ($5,500, 11.0% of cap) last pitched Aug. 17 and has been roughed up by the Padres this year. That should make you very hesitant to use him on FantasyScore in his first start back from the DL.

Diamondbacks | Arizona going to six-man rotation

Tue, 08 Sep 2015 16:10:50 -0700

The Arizona Diamondbacks are likely going to a six-man starting rotation that will include SPs Jeremy Hellickson and Jhoulys Chacin after SP Zack Godley makes another start Wednesday, Sept. 9, according to manager Chip Hale.

Fantasy Tip: None of this trio of starters for Arizona should command much attention on FantasyScore regardless of the move to a six-man rotation. The news further limits their value in NL-only leagues for the remainder of the regular season.

Diamondbacks | Jeremy Hellickson experiences setback

Sun, 30 Aug 2015 06:11:56 -0700

Arizona Diamondbacks SP Jeremy Hellickson (hamstring) had a bullpen session canceled and a planned simulated game appearance next week pushed back after experiencing tightness in his hamstring. He has been on the 15-day disabled list since Monday, Aug. 17, with a strained left hamstring.

Fantasy Tip: At this point, Hellickson's ($5,500, 11.0% of cap) season may be in jeopardy, or at least limited to just a start or two at the end of the year. In the majority of leagues, he isn't worth stashing given the uncertainty of when he'll be able to return.

Diamondbacks | Jeremy Hellickson to DL

Thu, 20 Aug 2015 11:39:28 -0700

Arizona Diamondbacks SP Jeremy Hellickson (hamstring, gluteus) was placed on the disabled list Thursday, Aug. 20, and SP Chase Anderson was recalled from the minors in a corresponding move.

Fantasy Tip: Hellickson can be let go in shallow mixed leagues. Anderson ($5,880, 11.8% of cap) was recently sent down but will re-enter the rotation after allowing five runs in each of his last two starts. He's a candidate for owners in deep mixed leagues, but he's merely a matchup play on FantasyScore, and a risky one at that.

Diamondbacks | Jeremy Hellickson leaves start

Mon, 17 Aug 2015 19:35:31 -0700

Arizona Diamondbacks SP Jeremy Hellickson (glute) left his start Monday, Aug. 17, against the Pittsburgh Pirates due to tightness in his glute muscle. He was dehydrated from being sick to his stomach Sunday, Aug. 16.

Fantasy Tip: Hellickson ($5,500, 11.0% of cap) should be avoided in FantasyScore until he can officially return and prove his health in a full start without any setbacks.

Diamondbacks | Jeremy Hellickson shaky of late

Tue, 11 Aug 2015 13:43:55 -0700

Arizona Diamondbacks SP Jeremy Hellickson is 0-2 with an 11.25 ERA in his last two starts after posting a 1.88 ERA in four starts in July. He will face the Philadelphia Phillies Tuesday, Aug. 11.

Fantasy Tip: Hellickson ($4,800, 9.6% of cap) has had an up-and-down season, posting an ERA of 5.06 and WHIP of 1.38 with a 7.5 K/9 in 21 starts (115 2/3 innings for the D-backs. The Phillies have been one of the worst teams in all of baseball against right-handers all year, but they've also been one of the hotter offensive clubs since the All-Star break. Any way you slice it, Hellickson is a pretty risky daily addition to your lineups.
