Phillies | Jeremy Hellickson impressive Wednesday

Wed, 27 Apr 2016 19:10:56 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies SP Jeremy Hellickson (2-1) allowed two hits and three walks over seven scoreless innings in a victory over the Washington Nationals Wednesday, April 27, with eight strikeouts.

Fantasy Tip: This marked the first time in five starts this year where Hellickson was able to pitch into the seventh inning. See if he can put together a few more decent starts in a row before considering him as a viable pitching option in daily fantasy games.

Phillies | Jeremy Hellickson knocked around

Wed, 20 Apr 2016 23:55:19 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies SP Jeremy Hellickson allowed four earned runs, 10 hits and a walk with six strikeouts in just 4 1/3 innings in a no-decision Wednesday, April 20, against the New York Mets.

Fantasy Tip: Hellboy has been dinged for nine earned runs and 17 hits over his past two starts, spanning just 7 1/3 innings. He isn't walking many, but he is just very hittable, and that's not very good considering half of his starts come at the bandbox at Citizens Bank Park in Philly.

Phillies | Jeremy Hellickson cannot be trusted

Tue, 19 Apr 2016 23:20:59 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies SP Jeremy Hellickson is scheduled to pitch Wednesday, April 20, against the New York Mets. He is 2-1 with a 7.04 ERA in his career against the Mets.

Fantasy Tip: Hellickson is not a recommended fantasy play or DFS option Wednesday, especially considering the Mets have won 20 of their past 26 visits to Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia.

Mets | Yoenis Cespedes goes deep

Sun, 10 Apr 2016 14:30:15 -0700

New York Mets OF Yoenis Cespedes went 2-for-4 and cracked his first home run of the season off Philadelphia Phillies SP Jeremy Hellickson on Sunday, April 10.

Fantasy Tip: Cespedes was off to a bit of a slow start with no RBI and only two hits - none for extra bases - and seven strikeouts through four games, so his owners have to feel relieved with Sunday's effort. Leave the Cuban slugger in fantasy lineups as he should have a chance to improve his numbers soon; Jose Fernandez and Corey Kluber are the only recognized aces the Mets are scheduled to face over the next few series.

Phillies | Jeremy Hellickson earns first victory

Sun, 10 Apr 2016 14:17:05 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies SP Jeremy Hellickson allowed two runs on three hits while striking out five against the New York Mets on Sunday, April 10.

Fantasy Tip: Hellickson cruised through the first five frames before running into trouble in the sixth. The 29-year-old is showing signs of recapturing the form that made him such a coveted fantasy property with the Tampa Bay Rays earlier this decade. Hellickson is going to be hard-pressed to reach double-digit wins with the Phillies this season, but it appears he might be able to help owners in ERA and WHIP.

Phillies | Jeremy Hellickson tabbed for opener

Wed, 23 Mar 2016 10:18:33 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies SP Jeremy Hellickson will start opening day.

Fantasy Tip: Hellickson is a post-hyper that screams mediocrity, but he might be worth a cheap investment in NL-only formats after his dominance rose in the second half of 2015. Spend a buck on him and see what happens.

Phillies | Jeremy Hellickson to start Opening Day?

Sun, 20 Mar 2016 15:18:13 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies SP Jeremy Hellickson did not allow a hit and struck out six over five scoreless innings in a spring outing on Sunday, March 20, against the Houston Astros. Although the Phillies have yet to make an official announcement, Hellickson's pitching schedule lines up with an Opening Day start on April 4 at the Cincinnati Reds.

Fantasy Tip: It's hard to believe a move from Chase Field to Citizens Bank Park is going to be a good thing for Hellickson, but he is a pitcher owners can track a few starts into the season. The 28-year-old, who will probably go undrafted in the majority of leagues, went 9-12 with a 4.62 ERA last season with the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Phillies | Jeremy Hellickson acquired from ARI

Sat, 14 Nov 2015 12:57:04 -0800

Updating a previous report, the Philadelphia Phillies have acquired SP Jeremy Hellickson from the Arizona Diamondbacks, in exchange for minor league P Sam McWilliams.

Fantasy Tip: Assuming the Phillies make no other major starting pitching moves this offseason, Hellickson is expected to be one of the team's top three starters entering 2016, along with Aaron Nola and Jerad Eickhoff. He went 9-12 with a 4.62 ERA in 27 starts for Arizona in 2015 and is expected to fill the veteran innings-eater role with the Phils, although he could be traded to a contender if he gets off to a strong start. Hellickson could be of interest to fantasy owners in NL-only and deep mixed leagues.

Diamondbacks | Jeremy Hellickson traded to PHI

Sat, 14 Nov 2015 12:47:47 -0800

Updating a previous report, the Arizona Diamondbacks have traded SP Jeremy Hellickson to the Philadelphia Phillies, in exchange for minor league P Sam McWilliams.

Fantasy Tip: This appears to be a salary dump for the Diamondbacks, who were scheduled to pay Hellickson $6.6 million on the final year of his contract next season. McWilliams is a 20-year-old right-hander who went 0-2 with a 3.27 ERA in seven starts for the Phillies' Rookie-level Gulf Coast League affiliate in 2015 and he is not considered to be a major prospect.

Phillies | PHI interested in Jeremy Hellickson

Sat, 14 Nov 2015 12:09:38 -0800

The Philadelphia Phillies are reportedly working on a trade to acquire SP Jeremy Hellickson from the Arizona Diamondbacks, according to multiple sources.

Fantasy Tip: Hellickson went 9-12 with a 4.62 ERA in 27 starts for Arizona last season, with 121 strikeouts over 146 innings. The Phillies are in the market for veteran starting pitching depth and the 28-year-old right-hander would certainly fit the mold of an innings-eater. However, he doesn't project to be much more than a back-of-the-rotation guy for NL-only and deep mixed fantasy leagues.
