Vikings | T. Barber says Peterson becoming liability
Tue, 02 Feb 2010 12:57:16 -0800

Judd Zulgad, of the Minneapolis Star Tribune, reports former NFL RB Tiki Barber said during a radio interview that Minnesota Vikings RB Adrian Peterson is becoming a liability to his team because of fumbling issues. "You know what? He's becoming a liability for that team. look at that conference championship game. It's all mechanics. It's the same thing I had to learn. You do something one way for so long, you get away with it and you don't think it's a problem. Once you get in the National Football League -- safeties, linebackers, defensive linemen -- they're all taught to strip. If you have any kind of looseness in that football, it's going to come out … Whether it's down here close to your body, up at your chest close to your body, you have to keep it on your body so it can't get knocked away. And then when you go in to contact, cover it with your other hand. It was simple. Most things that cause success are simple," Barber said.

Judd Zulgad, of the Minneapolis Star Tribune, reports Minnesota Vikings RB Adrian Peterson said he is not concerned about his fumbling issues but plans on working on holding onto the ball better during the offseason. "It's not [anything] that really concerns me at all. It's something I look forward to working on more during the offseason. Especially with my running style, how I run so aggressive. The majority of time guys are hitting at the ball instead of trying to hit me. That's something that I'm just more aware of now and I'll do a better job coming into [next season]," Peterson said.

Chip Scoggins, of the Minneapolis Star Tribune, reports Minnesota Vikings RB Adrian Peterson said he will be working on his fumbling issues this offseason by trying to hold the ball higher. "With my running style, it will be something I'm thinking about as far as practice keeping the ball high. The way I run the ball kind of gets loose. I have to be more conscious of keeping the ball high when I'm going down. Those are some little things I'll definitely look to correct this offseason," Peterson said.

Judd Zulgad, of Minneapolis Star Tribune, reports Minnesota Vikings RB Adrian Peterson said he is not disappointed about rushing for 1,383 yards this season because he did other things to help the team out. "I had over 1,300 yards. I don't think that's a disappointment at all. I feel like I've contributed to this offense in so many different ways, not just running the ball. We're heading down the right road. We've got the opportunity to accomplish our goal that we set in training camp,at the end of last season. I don't feel that it's a disappointment as far as a season as an individual. Ultimately, it's not about individual goals. It's not going to get you to where you want to go. It's all about team and that's been my focus," Peterson said.
