Vikings | Adrian Peterson may play in preseason

Fri, 06 May 2016 14:26:06 -0700

Minnesota Vikings RB Adrian Peterson said he may receive some work during the preseason. "I feel like getting out there and playing a little bit," Peterson said. "It's something that once that time comes around, I'll have a better feel for, like, 'Hey, I need to get out there just to kind of get the legs moving and get the pads (on) a little bit.' I can tell you, though, I'm definitely more itching towards playing a little more in the preseason than I have the past seven, eight years." Peterson has not received a carry in any of the last four preseasons.

Fantasy Tip: Peterson probably would receive only a handful of touches this preseason if he plays because the team wants to make sure he is healthy for the regular season. Adrian Peterson is one of the best running backs in the league and should be in the conversation for the No. 1 overall pick in fantasy drafts.

NFL | Ezekiel Elliott draws big comparison

Thu, 31 Mar 2016 14:29:27 -0700

Ohio State RB Ezekiel Elliott was compared to Minnesota Vikings RB Adrian Peterson by an anonymous AFC running backs coach. "It was hard to find weaknesses for Adrian coming out and it's hard to find weaknesses for Elliott," the coach said. "I don't usually believe in taking running backs in the first round, but Elliott is one of those guys you make an exception for just like Adrian Peterson."

Fantasy Tip: Elliott is considered the best running back in this year's draft class and could be taken in the first 15 picks, which is rare for a running back. He has all the tools to be a successful player at the next level and should make an immediate impact in fantasy football, too. His fantasy value can be better gauged once we know where he'll play, though.

Vikings | Ground game hurting Teddy Bridgewater?

Fri, 26 Feb 2016 21:18:36 -0800

Minnesota Vikings QB Teddy Bridgewater's development has been slowed because the offense heavily features RB Adrian Peterson, according to head coach Mike Zimmer. Zimmer added that he believes Bridgewater can take charge if needed, and the offense just needs time to mold together to use the strengths of both players.

Fantasy Tip: As long as Peterson is healthy and performing well, Bridgewater is likely to play second fiddle in the offense. He is a low-range QB2 at this point.

Vikings | Adrian Peterson's role won't be reduced

Thu, 25 Feb 2016 09:27:17 -0800

Minnesota Vikings RB Adrian Peterson's role won't be reduced this year at age 31, according to head coach Mike Zimmer.

Fantasy Tip: As long as Peterson is around and healthy, Minnesota remains a run-first squad. At 30 in 2015, Peterson led the NFL in rushing and doesn't appear to be slowing down. He's definitely at the top of the pack for starting fantasy running backs again in 2016.

Vikings | Adrian Peterson the last of his kind?

Sat, 13 Feb 2016 17:20:58 -0800

Minnesota Vikings RB Adrian Peterson was the only player to have more than 300 carries last year, and retired RB Emmitt Smith believes that if Peterson doesn't break the all-time rushing record, no one will.

Fantasy Tip: Peterson is still four or five good years away from making a legit run at Smith's record, but he is the closest thing to a workhorse back in a league that continues to move to a committee approach at running back. He is probably the safest fantasy option at his position and should be one of the first players off the board in 2016.

Vikings | Adrian Peterson posts fewer receptions

Mon, 11 Jan 2016 10:57:38 -0800

Minnesota Vikings RB Adrian Peterson caught only 30 passes this season even though the team said they wanted to throw to him more often in order to reduce some of the hits he receives as a runner. He was targeted only 36 times, which was fewer than all but two seasons during his career.

Fantasy Tip: Peterson's main value is his rushing yards with his receiving stats being a bonus for fantasy owners. Peterson probably will be targeted more often in the passing game next season and will be a first-round pick in all leagues.

Vikings | Adrian Peterson to work on ball security

Mon, 11 Jan 2016 10:49:51 -0800

Minnesota Vikings RB Adrian Peterson said his top priority this offseason will be working on cutting down on his fumbles. Peterson fumbled eight times this season and lost four of the fumbles.

Fantasy Tip: Peterson led the NFL in rushing during the regular season with 1,485 rushing yards but also was one of the league leaders in fumbles. Peterson should still be a first-round pick in fantasy leagues next season and could be in the conversation for the No. 1 overall pick.

Vikings | Adrian Peterson held in check

Sun, 10 Jan 2016 14:48:07 -0800

Minnesota Vikings RB Adrian Peterson rushed for 45 yards on 23 carries during the wild-card playoff game against the Seattle Seahawks.

Fantasy Tip: Peterson rushed for 1,485 yards during the regular season, which led the NFL in that category. Peterson should continue his solid play next season and will be a first-round option in every league.

Vikings | Adrian Peterson will play

Fri, 08 Jan 2016 13:14:34 -0800

Minnesota Vikings RB Adrian Peterson (back) is listed as probable for the wild-card game against the Seattle Seahawks Sunday, Jan. 10.

Fantasy Tip: Seattle was the toughest fantasy matchup for running backs this year, as they allowed only 17.7 PPR points per contest. Peterson ($8,500, 17.0% of cap) was the NFL's leading rusher, however. But he's not 100% and will be playing this one in below-freezing temperatures. Either way you slice it, it's hard to be excited about paying up for him this weekend.

Vikings | Adrian Peterson practices

Fri, 08 Jan 2016 09:35:05 -0800

Minnesota Vikings RB Adrian Peterson (back) returned to practice Friday, Jan. 8.

Fantasy Tip: AD ($8,500, 17.0% of cap) is an RB1 consideration against the Seattle Seahawks on FantasyScore.
