Vikings | Adrian Peterson posts fewer receptions

Mon, 11 Jan 2016 10:57:38 -0800

Minnesota Vikings RB Adrian Peterson caught only 30 passes this season even though the team said they wanted to throw to him more often in order to reduce some of the hits he receives as a runner. He was targeted only 36 times, which was fewer than all but two seasons during his career.

Fantasy Tip: Peterson's main value is his rushing yards with his receiving stats being a bonus for fantasy owners. Peterson probably will be targeted more often in the passing game next season and will be a first-round pick in all leagues.

Vikings | Adrian Peterson to work on ball security

Mon, 11 Jan 2016 10:49:51 -0800

Minnesota Vikings RB Adrian Peterson said his top priority this offseason will be working on cutting down on his fumbles. Peterson fumbled eight times this season and lost four of the fumbles.

Fantasy Tip: Peterson led the NFL in rushing during the regular season with 1,485 rushing yards but also was one of the league leaders in fumbles. Peterson should still be a first-round pick in fantasy leagues next season and could be in the conversation for the No. 1 overall pick.

Vikings | Adrian Peterson will play

Fri, 08 Jan 2016 13:14:34 -0800

Minnesota Vikings RB Adrian Peterson (back) is listed as probable for the wild-card game against the Seattle Seahawks Sunday, Jan. 10.

Fantasy Tip: Seattle was the toughest fantasy matchup for running backs this year, as they allowed only 17.7 PPR points per contest. Peterson ($8,500, 17.0% of cap) was the NFL's leading rusher, however. But he's not 100% and will be playing this one in below-freezing temperatures. Either way you slice it, it's hard to be excited about paying up for him this weekend.

Minnesota Vikings RB Adrian Peterson (back) is out of practice Thursday, Jan. 7.

Vikings | Adrian Peterson sits out

Wed, 06 Jan 2016 14:37:49 -0800

Minnesota Vikings RB Adrian Peterson (back) did not take part in practice Wednesday, Jan. 6.

Fantasy Tip: Peterson ($8,500, 17.0% of cap) was bothered by back spasms and missed some time in Week 17, rushing 19 times for 67 yards and a touchdown. We'd be surprised if he doesn't play against the Seattle Seahawks in the wild-card round, but a high-priced injured runner against a nasty defense in subzero temperatures sounds like a recipe for a bust.

Vikings | Adrian Peterson secures rushing title

Sun, 03 Jan 2016 22:57:10 -0800

Minnesota Vikings RB Adrian Peterson (back) ran 19 times for 67 yards and a touchdown in the Week 17 game against the Green Bay Packers, and he added one reception for just one yard. His production was good enough to secure his third-career NFL rushing title.

Fantasy Tip: Peterson left briefly with a tight lower back, but he was able to return and finish the game. He faces a tough matchup at home against the Seattle Seahawks next Sunday, but he is still going to be a hot FantasyScore play with a limited slate of games.

Sun, 03 Jan 2016 19:59:35 -0800

Updating a previous report, Minnesota Vikings RB Adrian Peterson (back) returned to the Week 17 game against the Green Bay Packers late in the fourth quarter.

Fantasy Tip: The game was on the line, and the rushing champ was able to return after treatment for a lower back injury. That's good news, as Minnesota will need him in the playoffs.

Vikings | Adrian Peterson goes to locker room

Sun, 03 Jan 2016 19:41:41 -0800

Minnesota Vikings RB Adrian Peterson (back) went to the locker room in the third quarter of the Week 17 game against the Green Bay Packers due to a back injury. He is questionable to return.

Fantasy Tip: With Peterson, the NFL's rushing champion, sidelined it will be Jerick McKinnon and Matt Asiata handling the backfield chores until Peterson is healthy enough to return.
