Vikings | Big workload for Adrian Peterson

Tue, 16 Aug 2016 13:38:50 -0700

Minnesota Vikings RB Adrian Peterson could see 20 carries per game in 2016, according to offensive coordinator Norv Turner.

Fantasy Tip: The Vikings go as Adrian Peterson goes. They'll want to bend him all they can without breaking him. As is the case every year, Peterson should be one of the first running backs taken in fantasy drafts as he is arguably the most consistent running back in the league.

Vikings | Adrian Peterson to see preseason work?

Tue, 16 Aug 2016 09:28:29 -0700

Minnesota Vikings RB Adrian Peterson may see his first preseason touches since 2011, provided he wants to play, according to Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer. Peterson played in a 2013 preseason game but did not handle the ball.

Fantasy Tip: This really doesn't matter, unless AD falls to injury. He doesn't need the work, and it's more likely that Zimmer doesn't risk it anyway. Peterson is a midrange RB1 in fantasy drafts.

Vikings | Adrian Peterson will practice

Wed, 03 Aug 2016 10:08:37 -0700

Minnesota Vikings RB Adrian Peterson (hamstring) will participate in practice Wednesday, Aug. 3, according to head coach Mike Zimmer.

Fantasy Tip: Peterson has been sidelined for a few days and probably will be eased back into practice so he does not suffer a setback. He should be a No. 1 running back in all fantasy leagues as long as he is healthy.

Vikings | Adrian Peterson does walk-through

Mon, 01 Aug 2016 18:52:53 -0700

Minnesota Vikings RB Adrian Peterson (hamstring) did not practice Monday, Aug. 1, but he was able to participate in the team's walk-through in the morning. RB Jerick McKinnon has been seeing extra reps with Peterson on the sidelines, but he also left with an undisclosed ailment Monday.

Fantasy Tip: Peterson's injury doesn't sound serious and it should not dissuade you from making him a first-round fantasy selection in all formats. He is still a stud and in top physical shape, but drafting McKinnon is a sound move if you want insurance.

Vikings | Adrian Peterson has hamstring injury

Sat, 30 Jul 2016 16:26:11 -0700

Minnesota Vikings RB Adrian Peterson (hamstring) was limited in practice Saturday, July 30, due to a hamstring injury. "Working out, like the week before (camp), he pulled the hammy a little bit," Zimmer said. "He can do things, he just can't turn it all the way loose. So we're just being careful with him."

Fantasy Tip: The ailment shouldn't change much, and Peterson is usually limited before the season anyway. He's still a midrange RB1 in fantasy.

Vikings | Adrian Peterson recovering from minor injury

Fri, 29 Jul 2016 17:24:33 -0700

Minnesota Vikings RB Adrian Peterson (undisclosed) was held out of selected team drills Friday, July 29, because he is recovering from an undisclosed offseason injury, according to head coach Mike Zimmer. However, he performed the conditioning test and participated in running light sprints from sideline to sideline before eventually receiving a handful of carries near the end of team drills.

Fantasy Tip: Since Peterson received limited action in team drills Friday, his injury should not be considered serious. The 31-year-old veteran makes a somewhat risky fantasy option because the Vikings are moving towards a spread offense and he has never been considered a great receiver. That being said, he should still be viewed as a midrange RB1 in all seasonal leagues.

Vikings | Adrian Peterson set to walk?

Mon, 25 Jul 2016 23:26:44 -0700

Minnesota Vikings RB Adrian Peterson is likely in his final year with the Vikings as his salary hikes to $18 million in 2017, and QB Teddy Bridgewater is due for a large salary increase, according to beat writer Charley Walters.

Fantasy Tip: Peterson, 31, carries some risk this season because the offense is shifting to more shotgun sets, which Peterson struggled with last year. Jerick McKinnon figures to handle a lot of third downs. The upside for Peterson is lacking this year, but he remains a midrange RB1.

Chargers | Melvin Gordon seeks help for fumbling

Thu, 21 Jul 2016 20:53:20 -0700

San Diego Chargers RB Melvin Gordon worked with Minnesota Vikings RB Adrian Peterson this offseason to help fix his fumbling issues.

Fantasy Tip: Gordon is coming off a disappointing rookie season, and while it is too soon to label him a bust, don't count on him being more than a RB3 in 2016.

Vikings | Adrian Peterson has to adapt to shotgun

Thu, 21 Jul 2016 07:41:40 -0700

Minnesota Vikings RB Adrian Peterson will be part of a more shotgun-centric offense this season, and he struggled to run out of the gun early last year. The team shifted its offense to run more plays under center afterwards. Peterson vowed to become a better receiver this offseason.

Fantasy Tip: Peterson has proven time and time again not to count him out, but he has a lot working against him from a fantasy perspective this season. He's 31, has never been a great receiver, and the offense seems to be shifting to more of a spread offense. This will benefit Jerick McKinnon. Peterson remains a midrange RB1, but all of these factors make him a little less attractive in fantasy. McKinnon is an attractive RB5, but his usage outlook continues to gain steam. He could continue to move up the fantasy pecking order.

Vikings | Adrian Peterson above and beyond

Tue, 12 Jul 2016 20:08:04 -0700

Minnesota Vikings RB Adrian Peterson is working out in Houston at a training facility he helped to open. He is going through grueling workouts, trying to put his various training disciplines - hill sprints, weight lifting, agility drills, core work, pool training, boxing and MMA sparring - in one place. Peterson also runs 10 40-yard dashes, with 30 seconds' rest in between each. The slowest of them should be no worse than 4.49 to 4.55 seconds.

Fantasy Tip: Peterson is performing at a high level and despite being 31 years old, he is in tip top shape and ready to perform as a first-round fantasy selection should. Peterson is showing no signs of slowing down.
