Minnesota Vikings RBs Adrian Peterson (foot) and Toby Gerhart (hamstring) will not practice Wednesday, Dec. 11, but the team hopes they can return by Friday, Dec. 13. If neither running back can play in Week 15 against the Philadelphia Eagles, they'll be forced to start RB Matt Asiata. RB Jerome Felton would be another option in the backfield.

Minnesota Vikings RB Adrian Peterson (foot) is out of his walking boot and will attempt to practice Friday, Dec. 13. However, the team is more optimistic that RB Toby Gerhart (hamstring) will be able to play in Week 15 against the Philadelphia Eagles than Peterson. Peterson will have to practice Friday in order to play Sunday.
Fantasy Tip: Be fully prepared to bench AD this weekend. If he plays, there's a good chance he'll be limited in some fashion. To be safe during the fantasy semis, you'll probably want to go in another direction.

Minnesota Vikings head coach Leslie Frazier said the team is more optimistic about RB Toby Gerhart (hamstring) being able to play Week 15 than they are about RB Adrian Peterson (foot) but that Peterson is a fast healer and is determined to play. Neither is expected to practice Wednesday, Dec. 11, but the team is hoping they will be able to practice by Friday, Dec. 13.
Fantasy Tip: Owners will have to monitor the practice participation of both players to get a better idea on who will be able to play. Peterson should be in starting lineups if he is able to play. Gerhart should be considered a No. 2 running back or flex option if Peterson misses the game.

Minnesota Vikings RB Adrian Peterson (foot) will not need surgery on his sprained right foot, but he is unlikely to play in Week 15. He has a mid-foot sprain, and an MRI showed no damage or risk of a Lisfranc injury. Peterson still says he plans to play, but Peterson will have to spend time in a walking boot and prove he can run once he gets out of the boot.
Fantasy Tip: The Vikings have no reason to rush him back this week, or at all this season. Toby Gerhart would take over and should be owned in most formats. Hold on to Peterson, who said he wants to play and has a tendency to heal quickly. However, don't hold your breath that he returns this season.

Updating a previous report, the Minnesota Vikings sent the MRI results of RB Adrian Peterson (foot) to a specialist Monday, Dec. 9, according to a person with knowledge of the situation. It's possible that unless the specialist gives Peterson a clean bill of health, and can convince the team he will not do any further damage by playing, the team will shut him down for the final three games. Two of the games are on the synthetic home turf at Mall of America Field.
Fantasy Tip: If Peterson is limited or unable to play, Toby Gerhart figures to be the biggest beneficiary of more touches. He was solid in a relief role in Week 14. Add Gerhart as a low-end RB2 or flex fantasy play for Week 15 if Peterson is ruled out.
Mon, 09 Dec 2013 11:42:02 -0800
Minnesota Vikings RB Adrian Peterson (foot) said an MRI exam on his sprained foot has shown no ligament tears, and he also ruled out a Lisfranc injury. Peterson will undergo a CT scan but expects to play in Week 15 against the Philadelphia Eagles.
Fantasy Tip: The fact remains that AD is dealing with a sprained foot, which will be tough to come back from for Week 15. Even if he winds up playing against the Eagles, he'll likely be limited. Toby Gerhart should be added everywhere as insurance or in the event that Peterson is out this weekend.
Mon, 09 Dec 2013 10:42:58 -0800
Minnesota Vikings head coach Leslie Frazier said the team is waiting for more information on RB Adrian Peterson's (foot) foot sprain. Peterson will have more tests Monday, Dec. 9.
Fantasy Tip: It would not be a huge surprise if Peterson is shut down for the rest of the year. Prepare for the worst and be ready to go without him the rest of the way.

Updating a previous report, Minnesota Vikings RB Adrian Peterson (foot) is being diagnosed with a foot sprain, not an ankle injury as previously reported. Peterson admitted he has pain in his mid-foot area, and is scheduled to undergo an MRI Monday, Dec. 9, to determine if there's any Lisfranc damage. X-rays after the Week 14 game against the Baltimore Ravens were negative. Peterson said Sunday, Dec. 8, that he does not believe the injury is of the season-ending variety. "Not at all. You should've seen me in here, trying to get back out there," Peterson said. "I kept my pads on throughout most of the third quarter, until I finally was like, 'I'm not going to be able to go'."
Fantasy Tip: With Peterson out of the game, Toby Gerhart took over and had a solid stat line. If the team elects to keep Peterson out for any game action, Gerhart would be a tremendous fantasy replacement.
Sun, 08 Dec 2013 14:34:33 -0800
Minnesota Vikings RB Toby Gerhart carried 15 times for 89 yards and a 41-yard touchdown in the Week 14 game against the Baltimore Ravens, coming on for an injured RB Adrian Peterson (ankle).
Fantasy Tip: Gerhart was highly touted out of Stanford, but he has been in the shadow of Peterson for his entire career. If Peterson is forced to miss time, Gerhart could be a sneaky fantasy player in the coming weeks. But there is no indication that Peterson's injury will keep him out.
Sun, 08 Dec 2013 12:40:52 -0800
Updating an ongoing story, Minnesota Vikings RB Adrian Peterson (ankle) is back on the sidelines in street clothes.
Fantasy Tip: He doesn't appear to be in a walking boot, which could be a good sign.
