Saints | Adrian Peterson open to Saints return

Mon, 14 May 2018 11:23:41 -0700

Free-agent RB Adrian Peterson (Cardinals) said he would be open to signing with the New Orleans Saints this offseason even though things did not work out between the two sides last season.

Fantasy Tip: The Saints are not looking to add a veteran running back at this point, but Peterson could be an option for the team during training camp with Mark Ingram suspended for the first four games. Peterson will have a limited role no matter where he signs and could be a late-round option in standard leagues.

Saints | Adrian Peterson an option for Saints?

Sat, 12 May 2018 13:40:15 -0700

Free-agent RB Adrian Peterson (Cardinals) would be an option that New Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton would consider if the team pursues a veteran running back.

Fantasy Tip: Peterson has not received a lot of interest this offseason, so he may have to wait until training camp to sign with a team. He would only be a late-round option if he sees a decent amount of touches. The Saints likely will go with Alvin Kamara as their main back until Mark Ingram returns from his suspension. Kamara and Ingram can be at least No. 2 running back in leagues.

NFL | Adrian Peterson says he's fully healthy

Thu, 10 May 2018 17:46:14 -0700

Free-agent RB Adrian Peterson (Cardinals) said he is "fully healthy" and "ready to go" for the upcoming season. In addition, he said his neck has been cleared by "multiple doctors."

Fantasy Tip: Peterson showed some flashes of his old dominant self this past season after he latched onto the Cardinals following his release in New Orleans. The 33-year-old ultimately finished with 529 yards on 156 carries and found the end zone twice. He probably still has something to offer, but more so as a complementary or change-of-pace back.

Cardinals | Adrian Peterson released

Tue, 13 Mar 2018 14:11:32 -0700

Arizona Cardinals RB Adrian Peterson was officially released Tuesday, March 13.

Fantasy Tip: Peterson gave the Cardinals some quality games, but he'll turn 33 years old next week and is comfortably over the hill in running back years. He may yet play a complementary role somewhere else, but he is merely a faint blip on the fantasy radar at this point in his storied career.

Cardinals | Adrian Peterson says neck is healed

Mon, 12 Mar 2018 22:45:50 -0700

Free-agent RB Adrian Peterson (Cardinals) said the Arizona Cardinals doctor told him that his neck is "completely healed" after reviewing scans and that he is "still looking forward to playing next season."

Fantasy Tip: Peterson's tenure with the Saints at the onset of the 2017 season turned out to be a huge flop, though that was more so because they had Alvin Kamara and Mark Ingram carrying the load. When AP arrived in Arizona, he was decent and exhibited flashes of his old self, so perhaps there is still something left in the tank. Of course, that hinges on just where he ends up next.

Cardinals | Adrian Peterson to be released

Mon, 12 Mar 2018 05:07:09 -0700

Arizona Cardinals RB Adrian Peterson is expected to be released Monday, March 12, according to a source. He is due a $750,000 bonus on the third day of the league year. He could still return to Arizona later.

Fantasy Tip: Peterson's fantasy value is pretty murky right now. If he returns to Arizona, he'd be an RB4 for depth.

Cardinals | Adrian Peterson not close to retirement

Sat, 03 Feb 2018 10:21:51 -0800

Arizona Cardinals RB Adrian Peterson will turn 33 years old in March, but he recently told the St. Paul Pioneer Press' Chris Tomasson he wants at least four more years.

Fantasy Tip: Peterson is a physical marvel and was able to carry the Arizona offense on his shoulders on occasion after he was traded from the New Orleans Saints, but any running back wanting to play into his mid-30s is living on borrowed time. Injuries are also a major concern. The Cardinals are expected to release Peterson, meaning he'll need to learn his third offense in about a year if he plays in 2018. While it is never wise to bet against him, Peterson is nearing the end of the line as a useful fantasy option.

Cardinals | Adrian Peterson to be released

Wed, 31 Jan 2018 11:31:56 -0800

Arizona Cardinals RB Adrian Peterson is expected to be released, according to Fox Sports Radio's Mike Jurecki. Peterson's salary cap hit would be $3.5 million for 2018.

Fantasy Tip: With David Johnson returning and Peterson turning 33 years old and injury prone, it makes sense for the Cardinals to part ways with the veteran running back. It's unlikely that Peterson will ever be fantasy relevant again considering his age and injury history.

Cardinals | Adrian Peterson's season over

Thu, 14 Dec 2017 19:33:53 -0800

Arizona Cardinals RB Adrian Peterson (neck) will be placed on the Reserve/Injured list with a neck injury, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: With Peterson out for the year, Kerwynn Williams should remain a low-end, volume-based RB2 for the remainder of the season.
