Fri, 14 Jun 2013 23:59:10 -0700 Oakland Athletics SP Brett Anderson (ankle) will be out until August, at the earliest. A scan on his right ankle this week revealed that he must keep his walking boot on longer than expected to get around on the stress fracture he incurred. Fantasy Tip: Just another notch on his lengthy medical history. Keep stashing him hoping for another late-season boost. Oakland has enough starting-pitching depth to be conservative with Anderson's recovery.
Sat, 01 Jun 2013 13:30:23 -0700 Oakland Athletics SP Brett Anderson (foot) played catch from one knee Friday, May 31. He is still walking around in a boot to protect his injured right foot.
Sun, 19 May 2013 00:36:00 -0700 Updating previous items, Oakland Athletics SP Brett Anderson (foot) may be out as long as six weeks due to a stress fracture in his right foot. He has been on the disabled list since May 1.
Fri, 17 May 2013 15:02:52 -0700 Oakland Athletics SP Brett Anderson (foot) has been diagnosed with a navicular stress fracture in his right foot, and he'll be re-evaluated in four weeks. Fantasy Tip: At this point, it's probably safe to drop Anderson in most mixed formats. You might be forced to stash him in a DL spot in AL-only leagues. Dan Straily has been struggling in the rotation since Anderson went on the disabled list. Sonny Gray will become a realistic option to replace Straily if he continues to falter.
Wed, 15 May 2013 12:26:48 -0700 Oakland Athletics SP Brett Anderson (ankle) will not come off the disabled list Friday, May 17, as the team had hoped. Anderson still has soreness in his right ankle and won't pitch again until the pain goes away. Anderson hasn't been feeling pain in his ankle while pitching, but it bothers him when fielding and in between his starts. The team will be cautious and give him time. Fantasy Tip: Anderson has developed a reputation as an extremely slow healer, so this shouldn't come as a huge shock to those holding onto him in mixed leagues. You'll have to sit tight, maybe for another week. When he's healthy, though, and pitching like he can, he should be owned in most formats.
Wed, 15 May 2013 11:20:28 -0700 Oakland Athletics SP Brett Anderson (ankle) will not start for the parent club on Friday, May 17, as the club had originally had hoped. The left-hander's ankle is still too sore. Fantasy Tip: It's unclear when the A's expect him to return to the rotation. Perhaps he'll undergo additional testing to confirm nothing more serious, but if the probably is mostly related to pain tolerance, it seems likely that Anderson would rejoin the A's rotation in the next week or two. Dan Straily seems likely to remain with the club for at least one more start beyond today's.
Mon, 13 May 2013 15:33:12 -0700 Oakland Athletics SP Brett Anderson (ankle) said he had no issues with his ankle Sunday, May 12, and he feels he'll be ready to make his next start when he's eligible to come off the disabled list. Fantasy Tip: Anderson is eligible to return from the DL later this week, and Dan Straily is expected to be sent down to make room for Anderson in the rotation. Some owners may have already grew tired of Anderson's oft-injured act, so check your waiver wire to see if he's available. If he's healthy, Anderson should improve on his early season results. He's definitely worth owning in deep mixed formats.
Thu, 09 May 2013 14:36:50 -0700 Oakland Athletics SP Brett Anderson (ankle) will start for Double-A Midland Sunday, May 12, and he could make the start for the A's five days later against the Kansas City Royals if he doesn't have any setbacks. Fantasy Tip: When completely healthy, we've seen the kind of pitcher Anderson can be. Some owners may have already given up on Anderson and dropped him in your league. It's not too late for the southpaw to turn it around this year, so he's worth rostering in mixed leagues.
Wed, 08 May 2013 13:58:31 -0700 Oakland Athletics SP Brett Anderson (ankle) threw 30 pitches during a side session Wednesday, May 8, and felt fine. However, it's not known if he'll pitch in a rehab game or simulated game next. Fantasy Tip: Anderson is very close to returning, and he could start again for the A's next week on Thursday when he's eligible to come off the disabled list. He'll either take the rotation spot back from Dan Straily or fill in for Jarrod Parker (neck) if he lands on the DL. Anderson's owners may have grown tired of his injuries and poor performances early this year, but he's bound to turn it around eventually if he can stay healthy. He's certainly worth stashing in mixed leagues if you have the room to spare for another week or so.
Tue, 07 May 2013 14:17:25 -0700 Oakland Athletics SP Brett Anderson (ankle) will throw a bullpen session Wednesday, May 8, to determine when he can return to the starting rotation.
