Rockies | Tyler Chatwood to have TJS

Thu, 17 Jul 2014 11:47:13 -0700

Colorado Rockies SP Tyler Chatwood (elbow) will undergo Tommy John surgery and miss the rest of the year, according to a major league source. He'll likely have the procedure sometime next week, and he'll likely miss most, if not all, of next year. Chatwood went 1-0 with a 4.34 ERA in four starts this season. It'll be Chatwood's second Tommy John surgery.

Fantasy Tip: The Rockies' rotation really takes a hit with this news. It's good news for Brett Anderson and Jair Jurrjens, though, as Jhoulys Chacin is also likely out for the year, and Jordan Lyles remains on the DL. Anderson and Jurrjens should be owned in NL leagues if you're in need of starting pitching.
