Cleveland Indians RP Vinnie Pestano (elbow) will throw in a rehab game with Single-A Lake County Wednesday, May 15, and he could come off the disabled list Friday, May 17.

Fantasy Tip: Chris Perez had mild soreness in his shoulder yesterday, but he was warming to come into the first game of a doubleheader Monday, so it appears he's OK. Pestano will return to his setup duties to Perez when he returns, and he remains a nice handcuff option.

Cleveland Indians manager Terry Francona said he doesn't believe RP Vinnie Pestano (elbow) should be ready to come off the DL when eligible May 16. He had an MRI that was negative.

The Cleveland Indians placed RP Vinnie Pestano (elbow) on the 15-day disabled list with right elbow tendonitis Monday, May 6, and recalled RP Nick Hagadone from the minors in a corresponding move.

Fantasy Tip: Joe Smith will now be serving as the eighth-inning setup bridge to Chris Perez, but Smith doesn't carry any real threat of stealing save opportunities from Perez unless an injury occurs or he needs a rest. Smith is only worth owning in deep AL leagues with Pestano out.

Updating a previous report, Cleveland Indians RP Vinnie Pestano (elbow) might be available Monday, May 6, against the Oakland Athletics, according to manager Terry Francona.

Fantasy Tip: It appears Pestano will avoid the 15-day disabled list. However, he is still a risky play in AL-only rotisserie formats for the upcoming week, just in case he has some sort of setback.

Cleveland Indians RP Vinnie Pestano (elbow) threw in the outfield for approximately 10 minutes Sunday, May 5, with manager Terry Francona and head trainer Lonnie Soloff watching. The team is expected to decide after the game against the Minnesota Twins if Pestano will be placed on the 15-day disabled list.

Cleveland Indians manager Terry Francona said he will use RP Joe Smith as his eighth-inning pitcher for the foreseeable future because RP Vinnie Pestano (elbow) has been bothered recently by a "cranky" elbow. He hasn't pitched since Sunday, April 28, and has only made two appearances since April 22. Pestano threw a bullpen session Saturday, May 4, but the team will wait to see how his elbow responds before determining the next step.
