Alden Gonzalez, of MLB.com, reports the Philadelphia Phillies signed free-agent P Josh Shortslef (Pirates) to a minor league deal Wednesday, Dec. 17. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The Associated Press reports Pittsburgh Pirates P Josh Shortslef (shoulder) has shoulder weakness and will be assigned to minor league camp to rehabilitate it, according to Pirates general manager Neal Huntington. He was on the major league camp roster, but has been removed.
