Baltimore Ravens general manager Ozzie Newsome announced Ravens LB Rolando McClain, 23, has informed the team he is retiring. Baltimore has placed McClain on the Reserve/Retired list.
Fantasy Tip: This is a curious decision, especially for such a young player, but McClain has been embroiled in off-the-field issues and may need time away from football to straighten out his life. It would not be surprising to see him make a comeback attempt down the line. He projected as a reserve for the Ravens, so this move shouldn't affect their fantasy value as a low-end No. 1 defensive team.

Baltimore Ravens general manager Ozzie Newsome said recently cut LB Brendon Ayanbadejo could be back, and the team has not closed the door on him completely. "As a team, we place a high value on special teams, and Brendon was one of our top performers in that area for the last five seasons," said Newsome in a statement. "He was one of the best special teamers in the league, but he was also a valued member of our defense, especially in our sub (substitute) packages. He became a leader for us, and the door may not be closed to bring him back to help us again."

"BMac is a free agent, I think the way he played down the stretch against [Indianapolis Colts outside linebacker Dwight] Freeney, against [Denver Broncos outside linebacker Elvis] Dumervil, against [San Francisco 49ers outside linebacker] Aldon Smith, I think it makes a statement for him," Newsome said. "I think he has a decision to make as to whether he wants to come back and play here."

Baltimore Ravens owner Steve Bisciotti isn't worried about the team signing impending free-agent QB Joe Flacco to a contract extension as he has confidence in general manager Ozzie Newsome. I trust Ozzie, it's always been done. They asked me about this with Ray Rice. They asked me about this with Haloti Ngata and on down the line and we've always signed them. So Joe's going to be here. Trust in Ozzie."
