Updating a previous report, Mark Fainaru-Wada, of ESPN.com, reports former NFL DL Dana Stubblefield pled guilty Friday, Jan. 18, to one count of lying to federal agents. Stubblefield told federal agents who were investigating the BALCO steroids case that he did not use performance-enhancing drugs. He will likely receive anywhere from no jail time to six months in jail.

Howard Mintz, of the San Jose Mercury News, reports former NFL DL Dana Stubblefield is expected to plead guilty Friday, Jan. 18, to felony charges of lying to federal agents about his involvement with the infamous BALCO scandal. Stubblefield allegedly lied to agents about taking performance-enhancing drugs during his time in the NFL.

Kevin Mannix, of the Boston Herald, reports New England Patriots DT Dana Stubblefield decided to join the team after hearing a positive report about head coach Bill Belichick's treatment of players. "The big thing for me is that I had to determine where I fit in best,'' Stubblefield said. "I liked the idea of playing here because I knew I could trust Belichick. I had spoken with friends of mine who had all played for Belichick before and they all told me that he was a man of his word. That's what I was looking for." Stubblefield said after being exposed to the 3-4 defense last season in Oakland, he will have no problems with it in New England. "At first I didn't think I was going to like it because they had me playing both inside and outside,'' Stubblefield said. "but after being a part of it, I loved it.''
