Athletics | Eric O'Flaherty, Jesse Chavez off roster

Tue, 30 Sep 2014 11:52:45 -0700

Oakland Athletics RP Eric O'Flaherty is not on the team's Wild Card roster after he wasn't available for the final series of the season against the Texas Rangers. He's coming off Tommy John surgery, and it sounds as if his arm isn't feeling great. OF Billy Burns and SP Jason Hammel are on the roster, as well as SP Drew Pomeranz. SP Jesse Chavez isn't on the one-day roster, either.

Athletics | Jesse Chavez moved to bullpen

Fri, 01 Aug 2014 14:52:13 -0700

Oakland Athletics SP Jesse Chavez has been moved to the bullpen.

Fantasy Tip: This is somewhat of a surprise with Jason Hammel really struggling since his trade to Oakland. But with the arrival of Jon Lester, somebody was going to be bumped, and Chavez is that guy. You can ditch him in deep leagues, for now.

Athletics | Jesse Chavez continues dealing

Tue, 15 Apr 2014 06:21:43 -0700

Oakland Athletics SP Jesse Chavez had his third straight solid start Monday, April 14, but doesn't have a win to show for it. He allowed one earned run on four hits and no walks while fanning nine in seven innings in his no-decision against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.

Fantasy Tip: We've been on his bandwagon since his great spring showing. He has a 1.35 ERA and 22 K's in 20 innings this year. Buy now, if it's not too late.

Athletics | Jesse Chavez off to hot start

Thu, 10 Apr 2014 05:20:08 -0700

Oakland Athletics SP Jesse Chavez has allowed two runs (1.38 ERA) in 13 innings and has struck out 11 batters in his first two starts of the season.

Fantasy Tip: Chavez was a sneaky pick at the end of AL-only leagues, but he is starting to make some noise. He had a tremendous spring, and his first two starts indicate he could be one of those sleepers that make a big difference in your title run. Pick him up if you have the space.

Athletics | Jesse Chavez likely to debut April 2

Tue, 18 Mar 2014 20:31:18 -0700

Oakland Athletics SP Jesse Chavez is on track to slot into the rotation behind SPs Scott Kazmir and Dan Straily, and his anticipated regular season debut would be April 2. "I like it, it's fun. It just gives me more confidence that they have confidence I can do it. I'm going to try to ride that wave of confidence," Sanchez said Tuesday, March 18.

Fantasy Tip: Chavez will be worth a look in deeper AL-only fantasy leagues, but those in mixed formats won't want to bother with him.
