The Toronto Blue Jays will need a fifth starter Saturday, April 20, and the likely candidates are in the rotation with Triple-A Las Vegas. SP Jesse Chavez is 1-1 with a 3.94 ERA and SP Drew Hutchison is 2-1 with a 2.16 ERA at Las Vegas. SP Joel Carreno, who started April 8 against the Cleveland Indians, started Wednesday, April 18, for Vegas, and is likely out of the running for Saturday.

Toronto Blue Jays SPs Drew Hutchison, Jesse Chavez and Joel Carreno are the candidates to be called up to serve as the team's No. 5 starter. Carreno is scheduled to start for Triple-A Las Vegas Wednesday, April 18, and he'll be ruled out if he throws more than a few innings.

Toronto Blue Jays SPs Joel Carreno, Drew Hutchison, Jesse Chavez and Brett Cecil are candidates to be recalled and make the start as the fifth starter against the Kansas City Royals Saturday, April 21. Carreno is scheduled to start with Triple-A Las Vegas Wednesday, April 18, so he will be ruled out if he makes that outing. P Aaron Laffey is an unlikely candidate because he was optioned last Friday.
