Toronto Blue Jays RP Roberto Osuna is unavailable Wednesday, July 27, along with RP Jesse Chavez. RP Jason Grilli and RP Joaquin Benoit will be called upon to protect late-inning leads.
Fantasy Tip: Grilli might have the upper hand. Benoit has a 5.18 ERA, while Grilli's ERA is 3.63 with a 1.33 WHIP and 50 K's in 34 2/3 innings. His K/9 is the highest it has been since his peak years with the Pittsburgh Pirates. If you have daily pickups, he's worth speculating on today if you're seeking saves.

Texas Rangers 2B Rougned Odor was ejected after punching Toronto Blue Jays OF Jose Bautista during a brawl Sunday, May 15. Bautista and 3B Josh Donaldson were ejected for the same fight, along with Texas bench coach Steve Buechele. Toronto Blue Jays RP Jesse Chavez was ejected after the game resumed for hitting Texas Rangers 1B Prince Fielder.
Fantasy Tip: The bad blood between these teams was obvious, and there will likely be some sort of suspension for Odor and possibly others involved. Stay tuned for updates on any discipline handed down.

The Toronto Blue Jays are entertaining the idea of temporarily using a six-man rotation, in order to limit the number of innings that SPs Aaron Sanchez and Marcus Stroman will throw this season. SP Drew Hutchison, who is currently pitching for Class AAA Buffalo, is the most likely candidate to be used as a sixth starter, although RPs Gavin Floyd and Jesse Chavez (back) could also step into the rotation.
Fantasy Tip: Toronto's starters lead the majors in innings pitched (95) and the team is in the midst of a stretch where they play 29 games in 30 days, hence the desire to add another starter. Hutchison is worthy of consideration for AL-only and cavernous mixed leagues if he gets promoted. Manager John Gibbons views Floyd as a pitcher only capable of throwing one to three innings at this point and Chavez has been battling a sore back recently, so they appear less likely to be used in starting roles.

Updating a previous report, Toronto Blue Jays SP Drew Hutchison appears to be on the outside looking in for the competition for the fifth starting spot, and he's likely to begin the year at Class AAA Buffalo. SPs Aaron Sanchez, Jesse Chavez, Gavin Floyd and Roberto Hernandez will be the others competing with Hutchison in spring training.
Fantasy Tip: This race likely comes down to Sanchez and Hutchison, and whoever performs better this spring could win it. Sanchez has the most upside of the group, but concerns over home-run allowance and questions about his health should temper your expectations.

Toronto Blue Jays SP Jesse Chavez won his arbitration hearing Saturday, Feb. 6, and was awarded $4 million. The Blue Jays argued to give him $3.6 million.
Fantasy Tip: Chavez will have a chance to compete for Toronto's final starting rotation spot in spring training, but he may be a better fit for the bullpen. Coming off an injury that ended his 2015 season, Chavez's fantasy value remains minimal, and he'd only be worth a flier in AL-only leagues if he lands in the rotation.
