Matt Maiocco, of the Santa Rosa Press Democrat, reports former NFL C Ben Lynch and the league have reached a tentative agreement to settle Lynch's lawsuit out of court. His lawsuit was against the NFL's retirement and disability plans because he believed he should have been getting more benefits since his diabilities were caused by an "active football" injury. No details of the settlement have been disclosed.

Jeff Barker, of the Baltimore Sun, reports lawyer Cy Smith has filed a lawsuit on behalf of former NFL C Ben Lynch against the NFL's retirement and disability plan. The suit says Lynch was denied benefits because his disabilities were not a result of a "active" football injury. However, Lynch claims his disabilities occurred from an on-field injury.

Joseph Duarte, of the Houston Chronicle, reports Houston Texans OL Ben Lynch (knee) suffered a season-ending knee injury in Saturday's, Aug. 23, game against the San Diego Chargers. Lynch had been fighting for a roster spot as a reserve.

HoustonTexans.com reports the Houston Texans have brought in OL Ben Lynch to training camp. "Right now I am trying to take in everything that is being thrown at me," Lynch said. "It is a lot of stuff to take in in one day. I have to make sure I get my play book and catch up with the rest of the guys." Lynch, who played for the San Francisco 49ers last season, was brought in to "beef up" the Texans offensive line.

As an update to previous reports, SF49ers.com reports X-rays revealed a fracture in the right ring finger of San Francisco 49ers C Jeremy Newberry (finger). He will not play in the team’s preseason game this weekend. Ben Lynch will start in his place.
