St. Louis Cardinals OF Jon Jay is sitting the bench for the second straight day Wednesday, April 24, and he's focused on working on his timing at the plate to fix his offensive struggles. He's hitting only .197 with 17 strikeouts and just three walks and hasn't been able to find any rhythm at the plate.

Fantasy Tip: Jay remains the team's starting center fielder, but manager Mike Matheny is giving him some needed rest to clear his head and work on his mechanics. Shane Robinson is benefitting for the time being, but he's not an option for mixed leagues. Be patient with Jay if you have the roster space.

St. Louis Cardinals OF Jon Jay is sitting in favor of OF Shane Robinson Tuesday, April 23. Jay went 0-for-4 Monday, April 22, and he's hitting only .197 on the season.

Fantasy Tip: Jay is slumping lately, but it's still early. Don't jump to conclusions and add Robinson. However, you may want to follow suit with St. Louis and keep Jay on your bench until he can get going.

St. Louis Cardinals OF Shane Robinson has the edge on winning a bench spot on the roster after going 2-for-3 with a grand slam Friday, March 8, and is leading the team this spring training in home runs (three) and RBIs (11). Robinson has 13 hits, 11 runs scored and a .520 batting average. He has shortened his swing and is crediting "confidence and comfort" for his performance.

St. Louis Cardinals 1B Matt Carpenter, and OFs Skip Schumaker and Shane Robinson are options to start in right field in Game 4 of the National League Championship Series Thursday, Oct. 18, if OF Carlos Beltran (knee) cannot play. Carpenter and Robinson haven't faced Game 4 SP Tim Lincecum, but Schumaker has gone 7-for-22 (.318) with a home run and a double against him in 22 regular season at-bats.

St. Louis Cardinals 1B Lance Berkman is not on the Wild Card playoff roster. INF Ryan Jackson, OF Shane Robinson, OF Adron Chambers and C Bryan Anderson are on it.

The St. Louis Cardinals placed 1B Lance Berkman (knee) on the 15-day disabled list with inflammation in his right knee Friday, Aug. 3. The team will recall OF Shane Robinson from Triple-A Memphis in a corresponding move. Robinson is starting in center field Friday.

St. Louis Cardinals OF Shane Robinson (hand) was hit on the hand by a pitch in the eighth inning Friday, June 1, against the New York Mets. He initially started down to first base, but was called back by the home plate umpire, who apparently missed the call. To make matters worse, Robinson ended up striking out in the at-bat.
