Cleveland Browns.com reports the team released WR Lenzie Jackson and OL Scott Sanderson. They placed QB Kevin Thompson was placed on injured-reserve for the season. The team then added QB Josh Booty, claimed off waivers from Seattle, WR Tony Simmons, claimed off waivers from New England, and OL Terrance Sykes, claimed off waivers from the NY Giants.

Patrick McManamon reports for the Beacon Journal it is starting to look like Cleveland Browns RBs James Jackson and Jamel White will get the bulk of the playing time at RB. The Browns probably will keep RB Ben Gay, but he might find himself inactive for a few weeks - or until he masters pass protection and does not fumble. Rookie WR Quincy Morgan, who has improved steadily and Kevin Johnson appear to be in for now as the team's starting WRs. WRs Lenzie Jackson and Jammi German appear to have taken advantage of opportunities as they fight for spots as backups.

Zac Jackson reports for the Cleveland Browns official site coach Butch Davis said not to read too much into the first cut at the team's depth chart. "I would say very little stock should be put into it," Davis said. "A depth chart is dependent upon injuries and how guys perform." Some first look facts: WR Kevin Johnson is listed as a fourth-team wide receiver because of a hamstring injury. He finally returned to practice on Monday. The coach said Johnson went about 65% in practice. Lenzie Jackson and Quincy Morgan are listed as the starting WRs. James Jackson and Travis Prentice are listed as co-starting RBs and Kelly Holcomb and Ty Detmer as co-backup QBs.

The Florida Times Union reports that Jaguars rookie Free Agent WR Lenzie Jackson, of Arizona State, continues to make his bid to land a roster spot with the team. "The rookies get bombarded with information," Jackson said during May's minicamp. "You study the playbook anytime you have off. At night, I was in my playbook; I didn't go out at all. I don't even have a car. This is a job now, and I don't have to concentrate on anything but football." "He's a football player and he certainly is bright enough and does enough good things to get your attention, almost daily," Jaguars head coach Tom Coughlin said. Jackson is in a battle with several other WRs for a roster spot.
