Tue, 26 Jul 2016 19:16:43 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays SP Alex Cobb (elbow) is scheduled to throw a bullpen session Thursday, July 21.

Rays | Alex Cobb slowed down

Tue, 19 Jul 2016 16:10:47 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays SP Alex Cobb (elbow) was taken off his rehab to give him more time to work on his mechanics in bullpens. He cannot pitch in a game until at least Monday, July 25.

Fantasy Tip: Cobb is probably already stashed in the majority of fantasy leagues despite having not pitched all year while recovering from Tommy John surgery. He probably won't be back to his full capabilities until 2017, but he nevertheless could help fantasy owners in the second half after he had a 2.87 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 8.1 K/9 in 2014.

Rays | Alex Cobb to throw bullpen session

Fri, 15 Jul 2016 19:42:44 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays SP Alex Cobb (elbow) will throw a bullpen session Sunday, July 17, instead of making his third rehab start for Class A Charlotte. He left his most recent start due to fatigue Monday, July 11. According to manager Kevin Cash, Cobb will work on mechanics that "have been a little bit out of whack."

Fantasy Tip: Cobb, who is recovering from Tommy John surgery, has tossed just 1 2/3 combined innings through his first two rehab outings. The 28-year-old right-hander should remain stashed in all formats, although he might not be able to make a significant fantasy contribution until 2017.

Rays | Alex Cobb left start with fatigue

Tue, 12 Jul 2016 07:43:56 -0700

Updating a previous report, Tampa Bay Rays SP Alex Cobb (elbow) left his rehab start Monday, July 11, due to fatigue. He threw 27 pitches in one inning and exited the game despite being scheduled for three innings. He's expected to make his third rehab start Saturday, July 16.

"Today was a lot better pitching-wise," Cobb said. "My pitches were sharper. My location was better."

Fantasy Tip: It's possible that Cobb can round himself into form in three more rehab outings, but this might tack on another outing to his rehab assignment. Keep him stashed in all formats.

Rays | Alex Cobb to rehab Monday

Thu, 07 Jul 2016 16:28:42 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays SP Alex Cobb (elbow) felt fine after his rehab start for Class A Charlotte Wednesday, July 6, and will make his next outing Monday, July 11.

Fantasy Tip: Cobb hasn't pitched since 2014, but he posted a fine 2.87 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and struck out 8.1 hitters per nine innings in 27 starts that year and can be a borderline fantasy ace when healthy. Temper expectations in the second half when he returns, but he is worth stashing in all formats.

Sat, 02 Jul 2016 17:45:13 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays SP Alex Cobb (elbow) will throw a bullpen session Sunday, July 3. After the session, a decision will be made to have Cobb start a rehab assignment or throw one additional bullpen session.

Fantasy Tip: Cobb has been a strong fantasy option when healthy, so he is worth stashing in any format if you have room. He could end up being a secret weapon down the stretch.
