Mariners | Dustin Ackley not playing

Sat, 23 May 2015 08:00:42 -0700

Seattle Mariners OF Dustin Ackley is not in the starting lineup Saturday, May 23. OF Justin Ruggiano will be the starting center fielder for the Mariners.

Fantasy Tip: The team is facing a left-handed pitcher Saturday, so Ackley is sitting out the game. Ruggiano ($2,200, 4.4% of cap) is hitting .207 so far in May and is not the great option on FantasyScore.

Mariners | Justin Ruggiano clubs homer

Wed, 20 May 2015 19:03:20 -0700

Seattle Mariners OF Justin Ruggiano hit his second home run of the season Wednesday, May 20, against the Baltimore Orioles. Ruggiano finished the game with two runs scored and two RBI.

Fantasy Tip: Ruggiano ($2,200, 4.4% of cap) came in batting just .213 on the season with one home run and one RBI. Ruggiano will need to string together a couple of these outings before being worthy of FantasyScore consideration.

Mariners | Justin Ruggiano draws start

Wed, 20 May 2015 12:28:42 -0700

Seattle Mariners OF Justin Ruggiano is in center field and batting sixth Wednesday, May 20, against the Baltimore Orioles.

Fantasy Tip: Ruggiano ($2,200, 4.4% of cap) carries a .213 batting average into this game with not much pop, but at this point anything beats Dustin Ackley. Ruggiano is not a good fantasy bet. You should go with other outfielders at this price like Gerardo Parra.

Mariners | Justin Ruggiano, Rickie Weeks draw starts

Fri, 15 May 2015 15:11:28 -0700

Seattle Mariners OF Justin Ruggiano is starting in center field and hitting sixth in the batting order against Boston Red Sox SP Clay Buchholz Friday, May 15. OF Rickie Weeks is serving as the designated hitter and hitting eighth in the order.

Fantasy Tip: Ruggiano ($2,200, 4.4% of cap) and Weeks ($2,200) are both shots in the dark at FantasyScore if you're trying to save money elsewhere. Ruggiano is hitting only .195 (8-for-41) and Weeks is hitting .192 (10-for-52) this year. Neither hitter inspires any confidence at FantasyScore.

Mariners | Justin Ruggiano to see PT in CF

Mon, 04 May 2015 16:22:41 -0700

Seattle Mariners OF Justin Ruggiano will see the majority of time in center field with OF Austin Jackson (ankle) on the disabled list, according to manager Lloyd McClendon.

Fantasy Tip: Ruggiano ($2,200, 4.4% of cap) immediately becomes a short-term AL-only solution for those hurting in the outfield. At FantasyScore, though, he's a low-end outfield commodity that's strictly a matchup play, mainly against left-handed hurlers.

Mariners | Justin Ruggiano in two-hole Monday

Mon, 04 May 2015 15:35:34 -0700

Seattle Mariners OF Justin Ruggiano is starting in center field and hitting second in the batting order against Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim SP Matt Shoemaker Monday, May 4.

Fantasy Tip: Ruggiano ($2,200, 4.4% of cap) figures to see pretty regular playing time with Austin Jackson (ankle) on the DL. Ruggiano is hitting just .222 (6-for-27) with two stolen bases on the year, though. Even against Shoemaker, who has been vulnerable to the home run of late, Ruggiano is a weaker FantasyScore play tonight.

Mariners | Austin Jackson out Monday

Mon, 27 Apr 2015 16:13:07 -0700

Seattle Mariners OF Austin Jackson is not in the starting lineup Monday, April 27. OF Justin Ruggiano is hitting leadoff and starting in center field against Texas Rangers SP Yovani Gallardo.

Fantasy Tip: Ruggiano ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) normally only plays for Seattle against a left-handed pitcher, but they are trying to mix things up, especially at the top of the order. He's not a great FantasyScore option normally, but against Gallardo and the Rangers in Texas, he qualifies as a sleeper worth taking a flyer on to save money elsewhere in your lineups.

Mariners | Rickie Weeks, Justin Ruggiano to start

Tue, 07 Apr 2015 10:11:54 -0700

Seattle Mariners 2B Rickie Weeks and OF Justin Ruggiano will both draw starts against Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim SP C.J. Wilson Tuesday, April 7, as they utilize their platoons. Weeks will replace 2B Dustin Ackley at second, while Ruggiano will replace OF Seth Smith in right field.

Fantasy Tip: Weeks ($3,000, 6.0% of cap) and Ruggiano ($2,500, 5.0% of cap) should both be considered as cheap alternatives at FantasyScore today, especially against Wilson, who is coming a poor 2014 season and an unhealthy spring training.

Mariners | Justin Ruggiano to work in platoon

Wed, 04 Mar 2015 18:17:46 -0800

Seattle Mariners OF Justin Ruggiano is expected to work in a platoon situation in right field with OF Seth Smith, although manager Lloyd McClendon isn't expected to use the plan during Cactus League spring games.

Fantasy Tip: Ruggiano won't have a whole lot of fantasy appeal outside of AL-only leagues unless injuries open up a more prominent role.
