Former Pittsburgh Steelers WR Hines Ward did not mention QB Ben Roethlisberger during his retirement press conference. Roethlisberger was also not in attendance during the press conference. The ex-teammates were reportedly not considered chummy.

Steelers | Releasing Hines Ward provides cap relief

By releasing WR Hines Ward by the March 13 deadline, the Pittsburgh Steelers save $3.37 million of his $4.61 cap hit for 2012. The move will leave the Steelers reportedly $8 million under the salary cap.

Pittsburgh Steelers WR Hines Ward, who will be released by the team, said Wednesday, Feb. 29, he will resume his career in 2012 with another team. "I gave my heart and soul for you every down and I will always bleed black and gold. I do feel that I still have more football left in me and I am looking forward to playing in the NFL, again, this upcoming season," Ward said in a statement.
