Athletics | Ben Zobrist dealing with soreness

Tue, 02 Jun 2015 16:09:33 -0700

Oakland Athletics 2B Ben Zobrist (knee) is having some soreness in his surgically repaired left knee after having a procedure five weeks ago, but he's still in the lineup and in left field Tuesday, June 2, for the second straight night.

Fantasy Tip: Zobrist ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) has five hits in 20 at-bats (.250) with two RBI since his return to the lineup. He'll likely continue to be slow with the stick while he works his way back, so you'll want to consider him a weaker second base play on FantasyScore for the time being.

Athletics | Ben Zobrist in left field Sunday

Sun, 31 May 2015 12:44:03 -0700

Oakland Athletics 2B Ben Zobrist is starting in left field and batting seventh against the New York Yankees Sunday, May 31, with INF Eric Sogard playing second base. OF/1B Mark Canha is getting the day off.

Fantasy Tip: Zobrist ($3,800, 7.6% of cap) is 4-for-16 in five games since returning from the disabled list. Sogard ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) is a low-end second base option in FantasyScore who offers little else besides salary cap relief.

Sat, 30 May 2015 16:25:55 -0700

Oakland Athletics 2B Ben Zobrist is out of the lineup Saturday, May 30. 2B Eric Sogard is in there in his place.

Fantasy Tip: Sogard ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) isn't much of a play on FantasyScore.

Cubs | Cubs pursuing Ben Zobrist

Fri, 29 May 2015 18:28:54 -0700

Oakland Athletics 2B Ben Zobrist is being pursued by the Chicago Cubs, according to multiple sources.

Fantasy Tip: Chicago's lineup would be an upgrade over Oakland's, and Zobrist should still see plenty of at-bats thanks to his ability to play multiple positions. Overall, the move would boost Zobrist's ($3,800, 7.6% of cap) value at FantasyScore on a per-game basis.

Mon, 25 May 2015 11:24:59 -0700

Oakland Athletics 2B Ben Zobrist (knee) will start Tuesday, May 26, against the Detroit Tigers, according to manager Bob Melvin, after being activated from the disabled list Monday, May 25.

Athletics | Ben Zobrist activated from DL

Mon, 25 May 2015 10:22:16 -0700

Oakland Athletics 2B Ben Zobrist (knee) was activated from the 15-day disabled list Monday, May 25. The team also optioned OF Craig Gentry to Class AAA Nashville.

Fantasy Tip: Zobrist ($3,800, 7.6% of cap) could be eased back into the lineup and could also see more time in the outfield. Owners on FantasyScore may want to see how he does in a game or two before considering him as a starting option.

Athletics | Outfield for Ben Zobrist?

Mon, 25 May 2015 02:13:27 -0700

Oakland Athletics 2B Ben Zobrist (knee) may head to left field when he comes off the 15-day disabled list Monday, May 25.

Fantasy Tip: Zobrist ($3,800, 7.6% of cap) usually plays at second base, but Eric Sogard is having a decent time there and left field seems to be a mess with Sam Fuld, Craig Gentry and Mark Canha all platooning. This may be the best way to get Zobrist some at-bats, but you may want to wait on those at-bats until he gets healthier.

Sat, 23 May 2015 17:27:49 -0700

Oakland Athletics 2B Ben Zobrist (knee) could be activated from the disabled list Monday, May 25.

Fantasy Tip: Zobrist ($3,800, 7.6% of cap) hasn't played since April 24, and he may need a few games for his timing to come back. Take a wait-and-see approach with Zobrist at FantasyScore in his first game back.

Athletics | Ben Zobrist continues rehab

Fri, 22 May 2015 14:31:31 -0700

Oakland Athletics 2B Ben Zobrist (knee) will play nine innings in left field for Class AAA Nashville Friday, May 22, and he will serve as the designated hitter Saturday, May 23. He'll be at second base for the Sounds Sunday, May 24.

Fantasy Tip: Zobrist ($3,800, 7.6% of cap) could be on track to return to the A's early next week if he avoids a setback this weekend. He will take over the starting second base duties, most likely, from Eric Sogard ($2,000, 4.0% of cap), who has been a low-end keystone play. However, Zobrist can also move around in the outfield, giving Oakland plenty of options. Unless he has a matchup you can't pass up, you should be hesitant in throwing Zobrist directly into your FantasyScore lineups when he's back.

Athletics | Ben Zobrist continues rehab

Wed, 20 May 2015 09:46:15 -0700

Oakland Athletics 2B Ben Zobrist (knee) will play seven innings in the outfield with Class A Stockton (Calif.) Wednesday, May 20, and then he'll move his rehab to Class AAA Fresno (Calif.) to play Friday, May 22.

Fantasy Tip: Zobrist ($3,800, 7.6% of cap) is nearing a return and should return to starting second base duties when he's ready. That'll push Eric Sogard ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) back to a bench role. Sogard is a low-end keystone play at FantasyScore in the meantime.
