Fantasy Tip: The Rays haven't put Zobrist on the bereavement list, so he should be expected to return in a day or two.

Tampa Bay Rays manager Joe Maddon said 2B Ben Zobrist will play shortstop until SS Yunel Escobar (hamstring) returns.

Fantasy Tip: Escobar isn't playing Thursday and is unlikely to return Friday, either, but he could be back in the lineup Saturday.

Tampa Bay Rays 2B Ben Zobrist, who wanted to play every game during the first week in preparation for the World Baseball Classic, took Sunday, Feb. 24, off at the team's request after having four plate appearances the day before. Zobrist said he did not feel sore Sunday and could have played.

Tampa Bay Rays 2B Kelly Johnson, 2B Ryan Roberts, SS Sean Rodriguez and 2B Ben Zobrist are each expected to rotate at second base during the season. It's a situation manager Joe Maddon referred to as a "quadtoon."
