Royals | Mike Moustakas sits again

Sun, 02 Aug 2015 08:19:28 -0700

Kansas City Royals 2B Mike Moustakas isn't in the starting lineup Sunday, Aug. 2, against the Toronto Blue Jays. 3B Cheslor Cuthbert will start at third base and hit eighth in the order, while 2B Ben Zobrist will start in left field and hit second against RHP R.A. Dickey.

Fantasy Tip: Cuthbert ($1,900, 3.8% of cap) went 0-for-3 with a strikeout Saturday against Mark Buehrle. Cuthbert shouldn't be used on FantasyScore.

Royals | Ben Zobrist delivers for new team

Sat, 01 Aug 2015 18:37:05 -0700

Kansas City Royals 2B Ben Zobrist Zobrist went 3-or-4 with a solo home run from each side of the plate and three runs scored in a 7-6 win over the Toronto Blue Jays Saturday, Aug. 1.

Fantasy Tip: After going hitless in his first two games with Kansas City, Zobrist ($4,600, 9.2% of cap) delivered in a big way Saturday. He should be a much steadier option at FantasyScore now that he is part of Kansas City's potent lineup.

Royals | Ben Zobrist batting second vs. Jays

Sat, 01 Aug 2015 06:58:24 -0700

Kansas City Royals 2B Ben Zobrist is playing left field and batting second against Toronto Blue Jays SP Mark Buehrle Saturday, Aug. 1.

Fantasy Tip: Zobrist ($4,600, 9.2% of cap) has hit sixth in his first two games with the Royals, and stands to receive a fantasy boost hitting higher in the order. Zobrist is pricey, though, and their might not be enough juice for the squeeze to roster him at FantasyScore Saturday.

Royals | Quiet debut for Ben Zobrist

Thu, 30 Jul 2015 19:08:40 -0700

Kansas City Royals 2B Ben Zobrist went 0-for-4 in his team debut in a 5-2 loss to the Toronto Blue Jays Thursday, July 30.

Fantasy Tip: Zobrist ($4,600, 9.2% of cap) is right at his career average of .264 for this season, but his numbers should improve now that he is part of a solid Kansas City offense. Once he starts a hot streak, feel free to plug him in at FantasyScore.

Royals | Ben Zobrist making debut in LF

Thu, 30 Jul 2015 13:27:16 -0700

Kansas City Royals OF Ben Zobrist is starting in left field and hitting sixth against Toronto Blue Jays SP Marco Estrada Thursday, July 30, in his debut with the Royals.

Fantasy Tip: Zobrist's ($4,600, 9.2% of cap) fantasy value is unlikely to change all that much with the Royals, although hitting in a better all-around lineup can't hurt. He's been hot lately, too, with 21 hits in 72 at-bats (.292) in July. Ride him while he's hot on FantasyScore, especially in hitter-friendly Toronto.

Royals | Ben Zobrist to make debut Thursday

Tue, 28 Jul 2015 14:00:55 -0700

Kansas City Royals 2B Ben Zobrist is expected to start and hit sixth in the batting order in his debut with the Royals Thursday, July 30, according to manager Ned Yost.

Fantasy Tip: It's unclear what position Zobrist ($4,600, 9.2% of cap) will play Thursday, but the switch-hitter can play both left field and second base, which could decrease the fantasy value of both Jarrod Dyson and Omar Infante for the foreseeable future.

Athletics | Ben Zobrist traded away

Tue, 28 Jul 2015 11:48:26 -0700

Oakland Athletics 2B Ben Zobrist was traded to the Kansas City Royals Tuesday, July 28, in exchange for Ps Aaron Brooks and Sean Manaea.

Fantasy Tip: With Zobrist out of Oakland, Eric Sogard ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) figures to return to an everyday role at the keystone. Mark Canha ($2,400, 4.8% of cap) and Jake Smolinski ($3,000, 6.0% of cap) should be expected to see more at-bats in left field, as well. None of these players carries value beyond the deepest of mixed leagues, however.

Royals | KC acquiring Ben Zobrist

Tue, 28 Jul 2015 11:37:00 -0700

Oakland Athletics 2B Ben Zobrist is being traded to the Kansas City Royals Tuesday, July 28, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: Zobrist ($4,600, 9.2% of cap) will likely fill in in left field until Alex Gordon is back from the disabled list, and he can also play second base and spell the offensively challenged Omar Infante. The move probably doesn't affect Zobrist's fantasy value all that much, but it may hurt the value of Jarrod Dyson the most.

Athletics | Ben Zobrist could be dealt soon

Tue, 28 Jul 2015 10:53:48 -0700

Oakland Athletics 2B Ben Zobrist could be traded soon, as the A's are deep in trade talks with other teams.

Fantasy Tip: It seems like a foregone conclusion that Zobrist ($4,600, 9.2% of cap) will be dealt this week. His fantasy value is unlikely to change all that much, but a move out of Oakland and pitcher-friendly O.Co Coliseum can't be a bad thing.

Athletics | Ben Zobrist a popular trade target

Mon, 27 Jul 2015 12:21:23 -0700

Oakland Athletics 2B Ben Zobrist is a trade target for several of the teams looking to compete for a playoff spot. The Pittsburgh Pirates, Kansas City Royals, Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, New York Yankees and Chicago Cubs are among the teams that are pursing Zobrist.

Fantasy Tip: Zobrist ($4,700, 9.4% of cap) likely is a hot commodity because of his ability to play multiple positions. He could be a starting option for most of the teams interested in him and his fantasy value should be similar no matter where he plays after the trade deadline.
