Rays | Chris Archer loses MLB-leading 14th game

Tue, 26 Jul 2016 22:51:57 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays SP Chris Archer allowed three runs -- one earned -- on four hits in seven innings against the Los Angeles Dodgers on Tuesday, July 26. He walked none and struck out eight in falling to 5-14 on the year.

Fantasy Tip: After breaking a six-game losing streak last time out, Archer was once again the victim of poor offense and shaky defense, including his own. The ERA and WHIP are middling at best, but you can't argue with 155 strikeouts, which leads the American League. Despite a lack of Ws, Archer should be retained in all leagues.

Dodgers | L.A. likely to land Chris Archer?

Thu, 21 Jul 2016 11:25:21 -0700

The Los Angeles Dodgers are a good fit for Tampa Bay Rays SP Chris Archer, and an executive that's been talking to the Rays places the odds at "70%" that Archer is traded to Los Angeles.

Fantasy Tip: The Dodgers front office has ties to the Rays, and the Blue are desperate for starters with Clayton Kershaw, Alex Wood and Hyun-Jin Ryu all injured. Archer's shaky control this year has led to big disappointment. He's sporting a 4.60 ERA and 1.39 WHIP but has shown slow improvements of late. A move to the Dodgers and the NL West would surely make him a candidate for a second-half rebound.
