Rays | Chris Archer strikes out a dozen

Wed, 26 Aug 2015 22:26:37 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays SP Chris Archer allowed four earned runs, nine hits and a walk while striking out 12 batters over six innings in a loss against the Minnesota Twins Wednesday, Aug. 26.

Fantasy Tip: Archer ($9,200, 18.4% of cap) might have suffered the loss, but he has 10 or more strikeouts in three of the past four games. He has also hit double digits in whiffs nine times this season. Archer is a must-start in FantasyScore for his big-time strikeout totals.

Tampa Bay Rays SP Chris Archer is 4-0 with a 0.74 ERA in four career starts against the Minnesota Twins, who he faces Wednesday, Aug. 26.

Fantasy Tip: Archer ($9,200, 18.4% of cap) has been one of the best all-around pitchers in the majors this year, and he should continue to be worth paying up for on FantasyScore against the Twinkies.

Thu, 20 Aug 2015 21:36:33 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays SP Chris Archer allowed one hit and struck out 11 in a shutout win over the Houston Astros Thursday, Aug. 20.

Fantasy Tip: Archer ($9,200, 18.4% of cap) bounced back from a rough start, and he now has 205 strikeouts in 169 innings to go with a 2.77 ERA. His strikeout potential gives him as much upside as any pitcher available at FantasyScore.

Rays | Chris Archer roughed up

Tampa Bay Rays SP Chris Archer allowed eight earned runs and took his ninth loss of the season Saturday, Aug. 15. Archer allowed 11 hits in 5 1/3 innings.

Fantasy Tip: Archer ($9,500, 19.0% of cap) hadn't allowed more than three earned runs in his previous five starts, striking out at least 10 hitters on two occasions. FantasyScore owners should continue to include Archer in their lineups.

Rays | Chris Archer shoots down Pale Hose

Tue, 04 Aug 2015 22:48:37 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays SP Chris Archer allowed two runs and six hits over seven innings Tuesday, Aug. 4, against the Chicago White Sox to pick up his first win since June 23. He was backed by a season-high four home runs of support.

Fantasy Tip: Archer ($9,500, 19.0% of cap) has been a bit overpriced lately based upon his lack of wins, but if he can re-gain the momentum he had earlier in the season he is a must-have FantasyScore option, especially due to his high K/9 (strikeouts per nine innings) ratio.

Rays | Chris Archer strikes out 11

Wed, 29 Jul 2015 12:54:38 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays SP Chris Archer allowed two runs on three hits in seven innings against the Detroit Tigers Wednesday, July 29, to suffer his eighth loss of the season. He struck out 11 batters and did not walk any batters during the game.

Fantasy Tip: Archer ($9,500, 19.0% of cap) pitched well during the game but did not receive enough run support. He has struck out at least 10 batters in six games this season and has struck out at least six batters in his last seven starts. He is scheduled to face the Chicago White Sox in his next start and could be a solid starting option.

Rays | Chris Archer strong against Baltimore

Fri, 24 Jul 2015 20:22:26 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays SP Chris Archer allowed one run on five hits and struck out nine over six in innings in a no-decision against the Baltimore Orioles Friday, July 24.

Fantasy Tip: After being clobbered in his final start before the All-Star break, Archer ($9,500, 19.0% of cap) has bounced back with two strong starts. He silenced Baltimore's sixth-ranked scoring offense Friday, and he appears safe to deploy at FantasyScore going forward.

Rays | Chris Archer roughed up by Boston

Sun, 28 Jun 2015 18:33:51 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays SP Chris Archer allowed five runs on five hits, including a career-high three home runs, and struck out 10 in six innings in a loss to the Boston Red Sox Sunday, June 28.

Fantasy Tip: Archer ($9,600, 19.2% of cap) just can't figure out the Red Sox. It was his second loss to Boston this year, and he is 1-6 with a 5.48 ERA in nine starts overall. On the flip side, he dominates almost every other opponent, so unless he is taking the mound against the Red Sox, he should make a strong option at FantasyScore.

Rays | Chris Archer pitches well again

Tue, 23 Jun 2015 19:23:04 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays SP Chris Archer allowed two runs - one earned - and three hits with just one walk over eight innings in a win Tuesday, June 23, against the Toronto Blue Jays. He also struck out seven batters in the 100-pitch quality start.

Fantasy Tip: Archer ($9,600; or 19.2% of cap) has a hefty price tag, but he is worth the salary in FantasyScore. He improved to 3-0 with a 0.41 ERA in three starts against the Jays this season, allowing just three runs - one earned - over 22 innings with 25 strikeouts.

Rays | Chris Archer strong against Toronto

Mon, 22 Jun 2015 22:53:24 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays SP Chris Archer is the probable starter for Tuesday, June 23, against the Toronto Blue Jays. He has allowed four hits with 18 strikeouts over 14 scoreless innings in two starts against the Jays this season.

Fantasy Tip: Archer ($9,600; or 19.2% of cap) is a tremendous play in FantasyScore, especially since he ranks fourth in the majors with a 10.99 K/9 ratio and sparkling 2.18 ERA.
