As many as 10 pitchers could be competing for the final three spots in the Arizona Diamondbacks' starting rotation. SPs Josh Collmenter and Jeremy Hellickson are expected to win the first two spots in the rotation, although nothing is etched in stone. SPs Chase Anderson, Archie Bradley, Trevor Cahill, Andrew Chafin, Rubby De La Rosa, Randall Delgado, Daniel Hudson, Vidal Nuno, Robbie Ray and Allen Webster are vying for the other spots, although several of these pitchers could wind up in the bullpen or the minor leagues.

New York Mets SP Bartolo Colon, Arizona Diamondbacks SP Trevor Cahill, Houston Astros SP Scott Feldman and Philadelphia Phillies SP A.J. Burnett have interested the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim as they search to replace SP Garrett Richards (knee) in their starting rotation. Ps Randy Wolf, Chris Volstad and Michael Roth are the Angels' current in-house options. Burnett is believed not to want to go to the West Coast. Colon may be the best option, but the Angels may face competition from other teams looking to beef up their rotations.

The Arizona Diamondbacks recalled SP Trevor Cahill from Triple-A Reno Monday, July 14, and optioned SP Mike Bolsinger to Reno in a corresponding move.
Fantasy Tip: Cahill had a rough start to the year and was demoted to the minors to work on some things. He had a 3.49 ERA in six starts with Reno and fanned 27 in 28 1/3 innings. For now, Cahill would be worth a roster spot in an NL-only league now that he has a rotation spot back for the time being.

Arizona Diamondbacks SP Trevor Cahill has been optioned to the Diamondbacks' Class A advanced affiliate. He took the ball as the starter for Visalia Thursday, June 12. Cahill has accepted the assignment and will look to stretch out again as a starter.

The Arizona Diamondbacks claimed C Jordan Pacheco off waivers from the Colorado Rockies Thursday, June 12, and designated 1B Nick Evans for assignment in a corresponding move. Also, SP Trevor Cahill was optioned to Single-A Visalia.

The Arizona Diamondbacks placed 3B Eric Chavez (knee) on the 15-day disabled list with a sprained left knee Monday, June 9, and activated RP J.J. Putz (forearm) from the DL in a corresponding move. Also, SP Trevor Cahill was designated for assignment and RP Will Harris was recalled from Triple-A Reno.
