The MLB Network reports the Toronto Blue Jays acquired P Sean Smith from the Pittsburgh Pirates Friday, July 31, in exchange for considerations.

Dejan Kovacevic, of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, reports the Pittsburgh Pirates signed free-agent SP Sean Smith (Rockies), P Lincoln Holdzkom (Red Sox), OF Jonel Pacheco (Pirates), C Zach Booker (Indians), P Edwin Walker and P Eduardo Pena to minor league deals Tuesday, Dec. 31. The deals do not include invitations to Spring Training. Terms of the deals were not disclosed.

Updating previous items, Jim Ingraham, of the Lorain Morning Journal, reports Cleveland Indians minor-league SP Sean Smith was added to the roster for the Futures Game to be played Sunday, July 9. Smith has produced an 8-1 record and 2.42 ERA for Double-A Akron.
