The San Francisco Giants made their first round of roster cuts Monday, March 14, reports Chris Haft, of MLB.com. The team optioned SS Ehire Adrianza, RP Jose Casilla, 3B Conor Gillaspie, RP Alex Hinshaw, OF Thomas Neal, OF Francisco Peguero, P Henry Sosa and SP Clayton Tanner to the minors. The team also reassigned OF Gary Brown, SS Brandon Crawford, SS Charlie Culberson, OF Terry Evans, RP Waldis Joaquin, C Tommy Joseph, SS Nick Noonan, OF Juan Perez, P Wilmin Rodriguez, C Hector Sanchez, P Jason Stoffel, P Ryan Verdugo and P Matt Yourkin to the minor league camp.

The San Francisco Giants have signed Ps Wilmin Rodriguez, Felix Romero, Jason Stoffel, Ryan Verdugo and Matt Yourkin, Cs Hector Sanchez and Jackson Williams, IF Nick Noonan and OFs Terry Evans and Juan Perez to minor league contracts, according to USAToday.com.

Updating previous reports, Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim C/1B Bobby Wilson and OF Terry Evans have both made the 25-man roster. Wilson will serve as the team's third catcher and serve as the backup to C Jeff Mathis on days when C Mike Napoli is used as a designated hitter. Evans beat out OFs Cory Aldridge and Michael Ryan because of his ability to play all three outfield positions.

Bill Plunkett, of The Orange County Register, reports Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim OF Reggie Willits (hamstring) could be headed for the disabled list to begin the 2010 season. The move could open the door for OF Terry Evans and C Bobby Wilson to make the roster.

Lyle Spencer, of MLB.com, reports Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim OF Chris Pettit (shoulder) will undergo season-ending surgery to fix a torn labrum March 16. He will require six to nine months of rehab. OF Reggie Willits, 3B Robb Quinlan and OF Terry Evans are the primary candidates for a backup role in the outfield. Quinlan has been spending most of his time at first and third.
