San Francisco Giants 1B Angel Villalona, placed on the restricted list Friday, April 6, is working out at the team's complex in the Dominican Republic. "Since Villalona has been unable to acquire a visa yet, we are cancelling his option to (Class A) San Jose," vice president Bobby Evans said via text message. "He has been placed on the major league restricted list while we await further updates on his visa status."

San Francisco Giants 1B Angel Villalona had his report date to spring camp delayed once again due to repeated problems with his work visa. "It's a visa that requires that they be an elite athlete. And currently, he's not in what they viewed as ... top physical condition," vice president of player personnel Bobby Evans said. The HIPAA Privacy Rule prevented Evans from citing specifics about Villalona's health status, but Villalona has a history of weight issues.

Updating previous reports, San Francisco Giants 1B Angel Villalona had his work visa approved by the U.S. Immigration Service. He is expected to report to spring training camp Feb. 23, along with the other position players.

The San Francisco Giants are awaiting word on the United States work visa of 1B Angel Villalona. He hasn't played organized baseball in two years while facing murder charges in the Dominican Republic. However, he was placed on the 40-man roster in December, after Major League Baseball reinstated him from the restricted list after all charges were dropped.

Updating previous reports, San Francisco Giants 1B Angel Villalona is unable to join the team because he was stripped of his U.S. visa, as a result of being charged with killing a man in the Dominican Republic, according to The Associated Press.

ESPN.com reports San Francisco Giants 1B Angel Villalona has been freed on bond after he was accused of killing a man in the Dominican Republic. Prosecutor Jose Antonio Polanco said he still intends to prosecute Villalona for the murder.
