The Baltimore Orioles need a replacement for SP Tommy Hunter Friday, May 11, against the Tampa Bay Rays. RP Jason Berken is a possibility, as he was recalled in the corresponding move, but if he is needed in relief, he won't be an option. SP Chris Tillman is scheduled to pitch Friday for Triple-A Norfolk, so he might be a candidate. SP Brad Bergesen is also a possibility, but is not seen as a likely candidate due to his struggles.

The Baltimore Orioles optioned SP Tommy Hunter to Triple-A Norfolk Monday, May 7, to make room for P Jason Berken on the roster. Hunter said he isn't injured at all, but he needs to improve his game. He was 2-1 with a 5.00 ERA. C Ronny Paulino is expected to be optioned to make room for P Stuart Pomeranz, although that transaction isn't official. Berken could be the pitcher to take Hunter's spot in the rotation.
