Orioles | Chris Tillman will start Thursday

Tue, 19 May 2015 18:49:56 -0700

Baltimore Orioles SP Chris Tillman (back) will start Thursday, May 21, against the Seattle Mariners.

Fantasy Tip: Tillman ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) owns a 6.34 ERA and a 5.09 xFIP through seven starts this season. FantasyScore owners need to look elsewhere until Tillman strings a couple of solid outings together.

Orioles | Chris Tillman expected to start Thursday

Mon, 18 May 2015 13:27:44 -0700

Baltimore Orioles SP Chris Tillman (back), who was pushed back in the rotation due to lower back spasms, is expected to start Thursday, May 21, against the Seattle Mariners. Tillman has improved and is not a candidate for the disabled list, barring a setback.

Fantasy Tip: Tillman ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) has allowed at least four runs in his last two starts and is sporting a 6.34 ERA on the season with 27 earned runs in 38 1/3 innings. In his first start from back spasm, it'd be wise to ignore him at FantasyScore later this week against the M's.

Orioles | Chris Tillman may start Tuesday

Sun, 17 May 2015 11:17:44 -0700

Baltimore Orioles SP Chris Tillman (back) is feeling better and could be the starting pitcher Tuesday, May 19.

Fantasy Tip: Tillman ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) was scratched from his last start but could be ready to pitch again in a few days. Tillman has struggled in some of his starts this season and may not be a great option to use on FantasyScore.

Orioles | Mike Wright likely to debut

Sat, 16 May 2015 17:27:47 -0700

Baltimore Orioles SP Mike Wright is likely to make his major league debut against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim Sunday, May 17, in place of SP Bud Norris (illness) and SP Chris Tillman (back).

Fantasy Tip: Wright has been solid at Class AAA Norfolk (Va.) this year, posting a 2.64 ERA and striking out 30 in 30 innings. He is worth keeping an eye on in his debut, but he is too risky to use as a spot starter.

Orioles | Chris Tillman scratched for Sunday

Sat, 16 May 2015 15:44:21 -0700

Baltimore Orioles SP Chris Tillman (back) was scratched from his start Sunday, May 17, with back stiffness, but he could be ready for his next start.

Fantasy Tip: Tillman ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) would face the Seattle Mariners if he's able to go later this week. Keep an eye on his status.

Orioles | Bud Norris feeling under the weather

Fri, 15 May 2015 13:33:51 -0700

Baltimore Orioles SP Bud Norris (illness) is sick again, and his start against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim Saturday, May 16, is in jeopardy. SP Ubaldo Jimenez would start Saturday, if needed, with SP Chris Tillman starting Sunday, May 17.

Fantasy Tip: FantasyScore players will want to check for an official announcement, because Norris ($3,800, 7.6% of cap) has been pitching awful (9.88 ERA with a league-worst 30 earned runs allowed this season). Jimenez ($4,900, 9.8% of cap), on the other hand, appears locked into rebounding in 2015.Jimenez is currently sporting a 2.41 ERA, a 1.01 WHIP and a 8.6 K/9.

Orioles | Chris Tillman in a tailspin

Tue, 12 May 2015 20:06:05 -0700

Baltimore Orioles SP Chris Tillman allowed five runs and nine hits over 6 2/3 innings Tuesday, May 12, against the Toronto Blue Jays. He also hit two batters, falling to 0-3 this season against Toronto.

Fantasy Tip: Tillman has dropped four straight outings and he shouldn't be trusted in FantasyScore, even at a tempting price of just $3,700 (or 7.4% of cap). Wait until he shows some consistency before plugging him back in.

Orioles | Chris Tillman tabbed for opening day

Tue, 31 Mar 2015 09:42:00 -0700

Baltimore Orioles SP Chris Tillman will start on opening day Monday, April 6.

Fantasy Tip: Tillman ($5,900, 11.8% of cap) has been a little bit better at home (3.72 ERA) in his career than on the road (4.28 ERA). In 14 career starts against the Tampa Bay Rays, the Orioles' opening day foe, Tillman has a 4.08 ERA and 4-6 record. Consider him a midrange option for FantasyScore lineups on April 6.

Orioles | No extension talks for Chris Tillman

Thu, 26 Mar 2015 14:05:32 -0700

Baltimore Orioles SP Chris Tillman, who is likely to be the team's opening day starter, said he hasn't had contract extension talks with the team, but he would like to remain in Baltimore long term.

Fantasy Tip: Tillman ($5,900, 11.8% of cap) has a career ERA over 4.00 on the road, and he'll face the Tampa Bay Rays in Tampa on opening day. He also has an ERA over 4.00 in his career against the Rays. It all adds up to Tillman being a pretty mediocre option at FantasyScore in opening day contests.

Orioles | Chris Tillman could receive extension

Sun, 22 Mar 2015 12:20:41 -0700

The Baltimore Orioles and representatives for SP Chris Tillman are reportedly working on a contract extension that would keep him with the team beyond the 2017 season, although negotiations are not likely to continue once the regular season begins.

Fantasy Tip: Despite pitching in one of baseball's most hitter-friendly divisions, Tillman has gone 38-16 with a 3.42 ERA since joining Baltimore's starting rotation on a full-time basis in July 2012. He's likely to be available in the later rounds of universal fantasy drafts, due in part to his low K/9 rate last season (6.5).
