Miami Marlins SP Tom Koehler threw 79 pitches over five innings in his second big league start and first this season, allowing two runs and seven hits in a 5-3 loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers on Sunday, May 12. Koehler was recalled from Triple-A New Orleans on April 19 and made six relief appearances before replacing Wade LeBlanc in the rotation.

Miami Marlins SP Tom Koehler will replace SP Wade LeBlanc in the starting rotation and start Sunday, May 12. LeBlanc will move to the bullpen.

Fantasy Tip: Koehler doesn't miss enough bats to be considered in any leagues other than NL formats. He does use a four-pitch repertoire to keep hitters off balance, but there isn't much upside here.

The Miami Marlins have revised their pitching rotation as a result of SPs Henderson Alvarez (shoulder) and Nathan Eovaldi (shoulder) landing on the 15-day disabled list. SP Ricky Nolasco will start the season opener against the Washington Nationals Monday, April 1. SP Kevin Slowey, who was originally scheduled to be the No. 5 starter, will pitch Wednesday, April 3, and SP Wade LeBlanc will pitch the final game of the series Thursday, April 4. SP Alex Sanabia will start against the New York Mets Friday, April 5, Nolasco will pitch Saturday, April 6, and SP Jose Fernandez will make his MLB debut Sunday, April 7.

Miami Marlins SP Wade LeBlanc is still believed to be the favorite for the fifth rotation spot, but he'll need to hold off SPs Brad Hand, John Maine, Alex Sanabia, Kevin Slowey and Mitch Talbot, all who have prior starting experience in the majors.

Miami Marlins executive Larry Beinfest said Tuesday, Jan. 29, that the fifth rotation spot is wide open. "(SP Wade LeBlanc) pitched well last year in the pen and starting so he may have a little leg up," Beinfest said. "(SP Brad Hand) had a great year in Triple-A. (SP Alex Sanabia) is back from injury and feeling well. And we have non-roster invitees who get in the mix as well, guys like (SP John Maine)."

Miami Marlins SP Josh Johnson was scratched from his start Monday, Oct. 1, and will not pitch again this year. SP Wade LeBlanc will start instead.

Miami Marlins SP Wade LeBlanc has been added to the starting rotation and will start Tuesday, Sept. 4. The team has decided to go to a six-man starting rotation for the remainder of the season.
