The Cleveland Indians have high hopes for SP Danny Salazar in 2014, and they believe he can make up for the loss of SPs Ubaldo Jimenez and Scott Kazmir. Pitching coach Mickey Callaway said the most important thing for Salazar this season will be to learn the ins and outs of the Major League routine, which will help him navigate his way through a full season. General manager Chris Antonetti said the plan is for Salazar to make at least 30 starts, and he will likely be slotted in the second or third spot of the rotation behind staff leader SP Justin Masterson. The team feels Salazar will benefit from no longer worrying about pitch counts or innings limits.
Fantasy Tip: Salazar gave fantasy owners glimpses of brilliance down the stretch last season, and he enters the new season with high hopes for those in keeper formats. He will be a must-have in AL-only fantasy leagues, and could emerge as a must-start in all mixed formats if he pitches to his capabilities.

Cleveland Indians SP Justin Masterson remains hopeful he and the club can avoid an arbitration hearing and agree to a deal. "It's always good (to negotiate) before the season, at least for me," Masterson said. "But, if nothing were to happen, depending on how this takes place, maybe there's a time for my representation, and (general manager Chris Antonetti) and (assistant general manager Mike Chernoff) to say, 'Let's just take a breather'. I don't necessarily want to talk during the season, but I leave it up to my agent."
