Minnesota Twins SP Kris Johnson will be recalled from Triple-A Rochester, and he's expected to start Friday, July 11, according to a source. SP Yohan Pino could be optioned back to the minors after his next start.

The Minnesota Twins announced P Kris Johnson will be called up from Triple-A Rochester to act as the 26th man on the roster. The Twins are playing a doubleheader with the Los Angeles Dodgers and this will enable Johnson to serve as a starting pitcher for one of the games.

The Pittsburgh Pirates have called up P Kris Johnson from Triple-A Indianapolis. He was 10-4 with two saves and led the International League with a 2.41 ERA. Johnson will pitch out of the bullpen, although he started 20 of the 25 games he appeared in at Indianapolis. "Kris gives us the most innings and pitches available," general manager Neal Huntington said. "We looked at the reliever group at Triple-A, and Kris has put himself in a position to be a legitimate September (call-up) candidate. He was our best guy available to help this club today."

Pittsburgh Pirates P Kris Johnson has a chance to make a quick impact in spring training. The left-hander posted an 8-4 record with a 3.19 ERA between Double-A Altoona and Triple-A Indianapolis last season, and he pitched well in the Dominican Winter League for Escogido. Johnson is expected to battle RP Michael Zagurski for a left-handed job in the team's bullpen.
