Wed, 16 May 2012 15:30:27 -0700 Boston Red Sox RP Andrew Bailey (thumb) has been cleared to throw starting next week after visiting with his surgeon earlier this week.
Tue, 15 May 2012 14:39:55 -0700 Boston Red Sox RP Andrew Bailey (thumb) is set to be examined by Dr. Thomas Graham Tuesday, May 15. "Everything's gone according to plan," Bailey said. "I'd say I'd probably start throwing here in the next couple weeks."
Fri, 13 Apr 2012 11:04:57 -0700 Boston Red Sox RP Andrew Bailey (thumb) is wearing a cast on his right hand after undergoing surgery on his right thumb earlier this month. He'll start his rehab once he has his stitches removed, which should be in a few days. Bailey is expected to resume throwing at the eight-week point in his rehab.
Fri, 06 Apr 2012 14:09:42 -0700 Boston Red Sox RP Andrew Bailey (thumb) will wear a soft cast for the next 10-14 days, and then he will wear a brace after that. He isn't sure of a timetable for when he will resume throwing, but he's optimistic he will pitch again this season. "The doctor said the surgery went well and we didn't have to reconstruct anything, it was the ligament that was already in there, so that's a good sign," Bailey said.
Fri, 06 Apr 2012 13:34:33 -0700 Boston Red Sox RP Andrew Bailey (thumb) said he will return this season to pitch after undergoing surgery on his right thumb. Bailey injured his thumb while colliding with Pittsburgh Pirates OF Alex Pressley March 21 in spring training. "I felt a little weakness in my thumb, a little achiness. Looking back, I could have spoke up then. But maybe it was just a little something or whateves," Bailey said. "I went out and pitched the next couple of times and it didn't feel great but each and every time out it kind of got worse and worse."
Wed, 04 Apr 2012 14:19:45 -0700 The Boston Red Sox placed OF Carl Crawford (wrist), SP Daisuke Matsuzaka (elbow), SP Andrew Miller (hamstring) and RP Rich Hill (elbow) on the 15-day disabled list Wednesday, April 4. All of their stints are retroactive to March 26. RP Andrew Bailey (thumb), OF Ryan Kalish (shoulder) and SP Christopher Carpenter (elbow) were placed on the 60-day DL.
Wed, 04 Apr 2012 14:19:20 -0700 Boston Red Sox RP Andrew Bailey (thumb) underwent successful surgery on his thumb Wednesday, April 4.
Wed, 04 Apr 2012 09:06:58 -0700 Boston Red Sox RP Andrew Bailey (thumb) will be out until after the All-Star break after he undergoes surgery on his right thumb Wednesday, April 4. He hasn't had more than 50 regular season outings in each of the last two years.
Tue, 03 Apr 2012 15:26:01 -0700 Boston Red Sox RP Andrew Bailey (thumb) will undergo surgery Wednesday, April 4, to fix the ulnar collateral ligament in his right thumb. There is currently no timetable for his return. Fantasy Tip: It looks like Bailey will be out for at least three months; it wouldn't be a surprise if he's out longer given his nature as a slow healer. Mark Melancon is the favorite to be tabbed as Bobby Valentine as the main man in the ninth, but don't rule out Alfredo Aceves racking up some saves. The BoSox want to keep the hard-throwing Daniel Bard in the rotation, for now, so target Melancon in mixed leagues first. Aceves belongs on AL rosters, at least.
