The New York Yankees called up 2B Scott Sizemore and C J.R. Murphy from the minors Tuesday, April 15. C Francisco Cervelli (hamstring) was moved to the 60-day disabled list in a corresponding move.

Fantasy Tip: Sizemore will provide infield depth and Murphy will back up Brian McCann. Both players can be ignored in the vast majority of leagues.

Yankees | Not adding Kendrys Morales, Stephen Drew

Mon, 14 Apr 2014 11:04:48 -0700

The New York Yankees say there is "no way" they will sign free-agent 1B Kendrys Morales (Mariners) or SS Stephen Drew (Red Sox), even though they are dealing with a shortage of infielders early this season, according to a source familiar with the team's thinking. "Nobody's signing Drew or Morales, not at the money they're asking," said the source, who requested anonymity. Drew is reportedly looking for a multi-year deal worth $14 million a year, and Morales turned down "multiple contract offers" from the Seattle Mariners over the winter. The Yankees are likely to call up either INFs Russ Canzler or Scott Sizemore from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. Canzler is slightly more experienced at first base than Sizemore, who has never played the position in the majors.

Athletics | Casper Wells acquired

Mon, 22 Apr 2013 11:36:27 -0700

The Oakland Athletics acquired OF Casper Wells from the Toronto Blue Jays for cash considerations Monday, April 22, and they moved 2B Scott Sizemore (knee) to the 60-day disabled list in a corresponding move.

Fantasy Tip: The A's aren't completely bare when it comes to outfielders, but Yoenis Cespedes (hand) is currently on the DL and Josh Reddick is off to a slow start. Nothing is guaranteed for Wells, but AL-only leaguers should take notice of the transaction.

Athletics | Scott Sizemore tears ACL again

Wed, 10 Apr 2013 17:37:33 -0700

Updating a previous report, Oakland Athletics 2B Scott Sizemore (knee) has a torn anterior cruciate ligament again in his knee. It is the second straight season he has torn his ACL.

Fantasy Tip: Manager Bob Melvin declared INF Eric Sogard as the starting second baseman with Sizemore sidelined. Sogard is a light hitter who has a good eye and doesn't strike out a lot. Still, even with regular at-bats, he is only worth using in AL-only fantasy formats.

Athletics | Scott Sizemore to DL

Wed, 10 Apr 2013 13:31:19 -0700

The Oakland Athletics placed 2B Scott Sizemore (knee) on the 15-day disabled list with a sprained left knee Wednesday, April 10, and recalled INF Andy Parrino from Triple-A Sacramento in a corresponding move.

Fantasy Tip: Sizemore had lost out on the majority of playing time at the keystone to Eric Sogard out of spring training. Parrino is mainly being called up for infield depth, so he shouldn't be of much use, even in deep AL leagues.
