New York Yankees OF Curtis Granderson (finger) underwent surgery Wednesday, May 29, to insert a pin into the broken knuckle on his left pinkie finger. General manager Brian Cashman said this won't affect Granderson's original timetable.
Fantasy Tip: Expect Grandy to be out another four to six weeks. This solidifies the playing time for Brett Gardner, Vernon Wells and Ichiro Suzuki. Brennan Boesch is only useful in AL-only setups.

New York Yankees OF Curtis Granderson (forearm) will begin a minor league rehab assignment Thursday, May 9.
Fantasy Tip: Granderson is on the cusp of returning to a Yankees lineup that is in need of the kind of pop that his left-handed stick can bring. Brennan Boesch and Ben Francisco will essentially become bench players, if one of them isn't cut from the roster. Vernon Wells could also lose some value if he enters into a platoon with Ichiro Suzuki or with Travis Hafner at designated hitter.

New York Yankees OF Brennan Boesch has been taking grounders at first base, and manager Joe Girardi said he wants to find ways to get Boesch's bat in the lineup more often. Boesch is slated to play right field and bat sixth in the order with OF Ichiro Suzuki taking the day off Wednesday, April 10. Suzuki is hitting just .185 and 1B Lyle Overbay is batting only .250 so far this year. Boesch, however, hasn't played first since high school.
Fantasy Tip: Boesch just got a little more intriguing in AL-only leagues, especially if he can make enough starts at first base to gain positional eligibility there. A left stick with as much pop as his is even more useful in a park such as Yankee Stadium.
