White Sox | Jeff Samardzija falling apart

Fri, 14 Aug 2015 15:45:49 -0700

Chicago White Sox SP Jeff Samardzija has a 12.91 ERA and has allowed 23 hits, 22 earned runs, five home runs and has a 9/6 strikeout-to-walk ratio in 15 1/3 innings in his three starts in August.

Fantasy Tip: Samardzija ($6,300, 12.6% of cap) gave up nine hits, six earned runs and three long balls against the hot Chicago Cubs Friday afternoon, continuing his downward spiral this month. Benching him until he settles down is the right thing to do in all fantasy formats.

White Sox | Jeff Samardzija unlikely to be traded

Fri, 31 Jul 2015 08:27:48 -0700

Chicago White Sox SP Jeff Samardzija continues to receive interest on the trade market, but the White Sox are unlikely to trade him now that they are in playoff contention.

Fantasy Tip: Samardzija ($6,800, 13.6% of cap) has had his ups and downs with the White Sox this year, posting a 3.94 ERA and 1.18 WHIP in his first season in Chicago. Don't expect his fantasy value to change much at all, even if he is traded away.

Chicago White Sox SP Jeff Samardzija allowed four earned runs, seven hits and a walk over eight innings in a win Tuesday, July 28, against the Boston Red Sox.

Fantasy Tip: It was an impressive outing for Samardzija ($6,800, 13.6% of cap), who did not look distracted considering his name has been swirling in trade rumors for the past week or so.

Blue Jays | TOR scouting wide variety of pitchers

Tue, 28 Jul 2015 12:43:44 -0700

The Toronto Blue Jays are looking at several pitchers in their quest to land a starter, according to baseball sources. Pitchers mentioned include Chicago White Sox SP Jeff Samardzija, Cincinnati Reds SP Mike Leake, Cleveland Indians SP Carlos Carrasco, Milwaukee Brewers SP Mike Fiers, San Diego Padres SP's Andrew Cashner and Tyson Ross.

Fantasy Tip: The Blue Jays are trying long and hard to improve their starting pitching, and other pitchers like Mat Latos and Dan Haren are also on this list. The odds of the Blue Jays landing one of these starters might be quite nice, thanks to how wide the net is.

Giants | SF checking in on Jeff Samardzija

Mon, 27 Jul 2015 16:29:43 -0700

Chicago White Sox SP Jeff Samardzija is attracting interest from the San Francisco Giants. The Toronto Blue Jays continue to make the biggest push for him, however.

Fantasy Tip: It's unclear if the White Sox are serious yet about actually trading Samardzija ($6,800, 13.6% of cap), but a trade to the National League and the pitcher-friendly environment of San Fran would definitely be more attractive to his owners than a move to Toronto and the American League East.

Blue Jays | Toronto interested in Jeff Samardzija

Fri, 24 Jul 2015 14:25:33 -0700

Chicago White Sox SP Jeff Samardzija is a player the Toronto Blue Jays are interested in acquiring before the trade deadline. The two sides are in active negotiations about a possible trade.

Fantasy Tip: The Blue Jays have been looking to add a starter, and Samardzija ($6,300, 12.6% of cap) may be one of the better ones available at this time. He has allowed two earned runs or fewer in five of his last seven games and would have run support if he joins the Blue Jays. He is a solid option on FantasyScore against certain matchups.

Astros | Jeff Samardzija attractive to 'Stros

Wed, 15 Jul 2015 17:00:29 -0700

Chicago White Sox SP Jeff Samardzija is a free agent after this season, and the Houston Astros continue to have interest in trading for him this summer. Samardzija has a 4.02 ERA with 102 strikeouts in 125 1/3 innings this year, and he threw a four-hit shutout in his last start against the Toronto Blue Jays July 9.

Fantasy Tip: Samardzija ($5,900, 11.8% of cap) would be unlikely to see a drastic shift in his fantasy value if he were to be traded to the Astros in the next few weeks. He'd be playing for a better all-around club, but the effects of that on his value would be marginal.

White Sox | Jeff Samardzija goes the distance

Thu, 09 Jul 2015 14:45:26 -0700

Chicago White Sox SP Jeff Samardzija thew a complete game shutout while allowing just four hits, a walk and striking out five batters against the Toronto Blue Jays Thursday, July 9.

Fantasy Tip: Samardzija ($5,900, 11.8% of cap) locking the hatches against the No. 1 offense in the league is substantial. He has allowed three runs or fewer in five of his last six starts and is beginning to turn the page after a few rough patches early in the season. FantasyScore players should view him as a potential bargain when he faces a weak offense.
