The St. Petersburg Times reports the Tampa Bay Rays are bringing 22 of their most promising prospects, including P Jeremy Hellickson and OF Desmond Jennings, to St. Petersburg next week for a four-day winter development program. Players will work out at Tropicana Field, and also undergo media training, make community relations appearances and attend a Lightning game. The invited players are C Luke Bailey, P Nick Barnese, SS Tim Beckham, P Alex Colome, P Joseph Cruz, P Devin Fuller, OF Todd Glaesmann, Hellickson, P Kevin James, C Jake Jefferies, Jennings, P Kyle Lobstein, P Jake McGee, P Matthew Moore, P David Newmann, 1B Jeff Malm, SS Juniel Querecuto, OF Cody Rogers, P Scott Shuman, 3B Matthew Sweeney, P Albert Suarez, and P Alexander Torres.

Updating previous reports, the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim have acquired SP Scott Kazmir from the Tampa Bay Rays, in exchange for minor league IF Matthew Sweeney, minor league P Alexander Torres and a player to be named later.

Updating previous reports, the St. Petersburg Times' Marc Topkin has posted on his Twitter page that the Tampa Bay Rays have traded SP Scott Kazmir to the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, in exchange for minor league IF Matthew Sweeney, minor league P Alexander Torres and a player to be named later.

Tony Fabrizio, of The Tampa Tribune, reports the trade between the Tampa Bay Rays and Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim that would have sent Rays SP Scott Kazmir to the Angels has been put on hold. A Rays official said if an announcement is made, it would come after the team's game Friday, Aug. 28. The Rays were expected to get P Alexander Torres and IF Matthew Sweeney from the Angels in the trade.

Lyle Spencer, of MLB.com, reports the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim are close to acquiring Tampa Bay Rays SP Scott Kazmir, according to a club source. The Rays will get P Alexander Torres and 3B Matthew Sweeney in the deal, which is expected to be announced Friday, Aug. 28.
