Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim manager Mike Scioscia said OFs Reggie Willits or Chris Pettit will come up from the minors to provide depth after OF Vernon Wells (groin) went to the disabled list. That should dispel any talk about top prospect OF Mike Trout coming aboard.

DH Bobby Abreu should see more time in the outfield to replace Wells.

CBSSports.com reports the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim transferred OF Chris Pettit (shoulder) to the 60-day disabled list Wednesday, April 14.

Updating previous reports, the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim have placed OF Chris Pettit (shoulder) on the 15-day disabled list, according to MLB.com's Rhett Bollinger. The move is retroactive to March 26.

Lyle Spencer, of MLB.com, reports Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim OF Chris Pettit (shoulder) will undergo season-ending surgery to fix a torn labrum March 16. He will require six to nine months of rehab. OF Reggie Willits, 3B Robb Quinlan and OF Terry Evans are the primary candidates for a backup role in the outfield. Quinlan has been spending most of his time at first and third.
