Indians | Josh Tomlin moves to 7-0

Tue, 24 May 2016 23:02:52 -0700

Cleveland Indians SP Josh Tomlin improved to 7-0 with his win over the Chicago White Sox Tuesday, May 24. He allowed two runs on five hits and a walk while fanning six over eight frames.

Fantasy Tip: Tomlin has a 3.35 ERA and just 36 K's in 51 innings, but he has a great 0.98 WHIP. The low strikeouts have him remaining on a lot of waivers, and he should be picked up universally.

Indians | Josh Tomlin stays undefeated

Sun, 08 May 2016 13:52:30 -0700

Cleveland Indians SP Josh Tomlin notched his fifth win in as many starts Sunday, May 08, giving up four hits on seven hits while striking out three over six frames against the Kansas City Royals.

Fantasy Tip: Tomlin follows the same roadmap in just about every outing - allow a homer and issue no walks. Although he has surrendered four home runs in 29 innings, that recipe for success has led to a 19:2 strikeout-to-walk ratio for the 31-year-old Texas Tech product. Tomlin seems destined for a blow-up outing in the near future with his pitch-to-contact approach, but it is unlikely to come Friday at home against the injury-depleted Minnesota Twins, so feel free to use him in fantasy.

Indians | Josh Tomlin solid, moves to 4-0

Tue, 03 May 2016 19:43:05 -0700

Cleveland Indians SP Josh Tomlin moved to 4-0 on the year Tuesday, May 3, in a win over the Detroit Tigers. He worked six innings, yielding two runs on nine hits, while striking out five and walking none.

Fantasy Tip: Tomlin isn't the flashiest of starting pitchers but he's proven to be notably consistent throughout his career. With a 3.13 ERA on the year now, Tomlin is once again establishing himself as a steady source for solid numbers and quality starts. He won't rack up many strikeouts, but if he contributes pretty much everywhere else, that makes him a commodity to own in most leagues.

Indians | Josh Tomlin victorious Friday

Fri, 22 Apr 2016 19:43:02 -0700

Cleveland Indians SP Josh Tomlin (2-0) allowed one run on four hits over 6 2/3 innings in a victory over the Detroit Tigers Friday, April 22, with one walk and four strikeouts.

Fantasy Tip: Tomlin makes a decent option for AL-only and cavernous mixed leagues and has allowed just two runs in two starts this season. He is expected to make his next start versus the Minnesota Twins Wednesday, April 27.

Indians | Josh Tomlin throws simulated game

Tue, 12 Apr 2016 23:09:34 -0700

Cleveland Indians SP Josh Tomlin, who had his start postponed Sunday, April 10, due to weather, threw a simulated game Tuesday, April 12. He is penciled in to start Saturday, April 16, against the New York Mets.

Fantasy Tip: Tomlin isn't a recommended fantasy option for that unfavorable matchup. Despite the fact the Mets have been struggling lately, Tomlin will be opposed by Matt Harvey.

MLB | Cleveland-Chicago postponed

Sun, 10 Apr 2016 10:53:59 -0700

Cleveland Indians SP Josh Tomlin was scheduled to face Chicago White Sox SP Jose Quintana Sunday, April 10, but the game has been postponed because of inclement weather. The two teams are now scheduled to play a doubleheader May 23.

Fantasy Tip: Owners in all leagues should remove the Indians and White Sox players they had in their lineups.

Rangers | Texas still looking for rotation depth

Thu, 31 Mar 2016 14:27:49 -0700

The Texas Rangers are working to add more pitching depth and have been negotiating with the Cleveland Indians, according to sources. One of Cleveland SPs Cody Anderson, Josh Tomlin and Trevor Bauer are expected to be the center of trade talks.

Fantasy Tip: Currently, A.J. Griffin projects to serve as the fifth starter for Texas, and along with the Cleveland trio, there is minimal fantasy value for all four in mixed leagues. Griffin stands to lose a rotation job should the Rangers land an arm, and Bauer would likely lose some value with a relocation to hitter-friendly Globe Life Park in Arlington. Stay tuned for updates, but these hurlers shouldn't be utilized in anything other than deep mixed and AL-only leagues.

Indians | Cody Anderson, Josh Tomlin make rotation

Wed, 30 Mar 2016 10:28:09 -0700

Cleveland Indians SPs Cody Anderson and Josh Tomlin will serve as the fourth and fifth starters, respectively, with SP Trevor Bauer heading to the bullpen.

Fantasy Tip: This is an interesting development, since Anderson and Tomlin were believed to be competing for the final rotation spot. Bauer has the most fantasy upside here because of his strikeout abilities, but a move to the 'pen kills his value for now. Both Anderson and Tomlin are more finesse pitchers and should be targeted in AL-only leagues.

Indians | Josh Tomlin, Cody Anderson competing

Mon, 28 Mar 2016 13:23:47 -0700

Cleveland Indians SPs Josh Tomlin and Cody Anderson are still competing for the fifth and final rotation spot this spring.

Fantasy Tip: Tomlin was believed to be a lock for the rotation early this spring, but that isn't the case. His best skill is his command on the mound, but health and homer issues make him more of an AL commodity. Anderson also has similar limited upside because of his lack of K's at the big-league level.
