Prior to Sparano's decision, Porter said the two had a great relationship, including texting or talking every day. Porter said he has not felt like he's been a part of the team ever since his benching. "The last seven, eight weeks was not fun for me," Porter said. "After the suspension, I had no fun. I'm sitting up there feeling like I'm an outcast on my own team. I'm a captain, but I'm not going to the captain meetings. He's not meeting with me anymore. How do you come back?"

Porter felt he was limited in his ability to do what he does best because he often found himself on the sideline rather than in the game.
