On Tuesday, Brookins was asked for his playbook by a Packers official and he thought the request meant that he was being released. The team simply wanted to add more plays to the playbook. Problem was, Brookins left camp to go home. On Tuesday, the Packers told agent Steve Weinberger that they wanted to bring Brookins back, but today (Wednesday) that is no longer a certainty. "We're awaiting word on what coach Mike Sherman wants to do,'' Weinberger said.

Carter looked better last week than he did earlier in camp. Brookins is bothered by a toe injury, but also is still in the running for a job.

The Journal Sentinel reports the signing of RB Jason Brookins by the Green Bay Packers doesn't necessarily mean the team has given up hope of re-signing RB Dorsey Levens or abandoned plans of pursuing another free agent RB. "They (the Packers) never said anything about Levens, but through the grapevine, I've been told that Dorsey doesn't really want to go back to Green Bay and he's looking to move on," said agent Stephen Weinberger. The Green Bay News Chronicle reports free agent RB Jason Brookins’ agent, Stephen Weinberger, said Green Bay would be a favorable place for Brookins to end up. He was released by the Ravens earlier this week. Weinberger said they haven’t heard from anyone about Brookins thus far but he believes teams think he needs to be claimed on waivers, which he doesn’t because the Ravens withdrew their tender offer to him, making him a free agent.

Both have caught coach Brian Billick's eye in this spring's brief workouts. "They're good athletes," Billick said. "They seem to have a good awareness about them. They're not overwhelmed by this. Their heads have got to be swimming, but they seem to handle it pretty well. They're handling the process very well."

"It's been a process. There are a number of factors involved. I really don't want to expand on any one aspect or not. It is in our best interest and Jason's that he try and hook on someplace else." The team actually withdrew their $300,000 tender offer to him and if a team does not claim Brookins by Tuesday evening, he will become an unrestricted free agent. The team may now wait until after June 1 to find another RB.

Trainer Bill Tessendorf indicated DT Tony Siragusa (knee/leg) was moving toward doubtful after he missed practice today and that Burnett is looking like a game-time decision. Billick has decided to stay put with RBs Jason Brookins, Obafemi Ayanbadejo and Moe Williams as his RBs. Allen has missed two other games so the team has experience in adjusting without him. The Ravens will continue to split carries between Ayanbadejo and Brookins and now Williams is expected to see spot duty too.

"The more Jason continues to play well and can stay focused, the more he will play," Billick said. "He did some very good things. He did a couple of things that we can't have happen. The Associated Press reports the Baltimore Ravens defeated the New York Giants 38-9 earlier today in a pre-season rematch of last year's Super Bowl. The Ravens held the New York Giants without a touchdown and used an efficient ground game in the second half. A 19-yard fumble return by DT Kelly Gregg gave the Ravens defense a TD as well. Giants QB Kerry Collins played only the first quarter, going 7-for-13 for 91 yards. Ravens QB Elvis Grbac went 4-for-9 for 86 yards before leaving after four series. RB Terry Allen gained 29 yards on 12 carries and scored his first TD with Baltimore. Ravens RB Jason Brookins scored on a 2-yard run and he added 112 yards on 10 carries.

The Washington Post reports the Baltimore Ravens are preparing for their final pre-season game at the RB position with two plans: have the RBs on the roster improve or scout the NFL wire for an upgrade. "If somebody becomes available that's better, we'll take him," said senior vice president for football operations Ozzie Newsome. "Things could heat up when everybody gets to 65." RBs Terry Allen and Jason Brookins showed promise in the 20-17 loss Thursday night to the Carolina Panthers. The Ravens want to give Allen a chance to work with the first team even though RB Jason Brookins had a more-than-admirable performance in Saturday's pre-season loss against the New York Jets. Brookins will likely replace Allen midway through the first quarter.
