Cincinnati Reds OF Billy Hamilton (hamstring) is back in the starting lineup Friday, July 11. OF Jay Bruce is back at first base, OF Chris Heisey is in right field and 2B Ramon Santiago is starting at second base.
Fantasy Tip: Return Hamilton to your starting lineups immediately.

Cincinnati Reds 1B Joey Votto (quadriceps) was placed on the 15-day disabled list with a strained left quadriceps. C/1B Brayan Pena was activated from the paternity list.
Fantasy Tip: Todd Frazier is playing first base Tuesday, July 8, with Ramon Santiago at the hot corner. Jay Bruce started at first base Monday, July 7, with Ryan Ludwick and Skip Schumaker in the corner outfield spots. Expect a rotation with Chris Heisey also involved in the short term if they decide to go that route, but the Santiago elevation to the lineup is more likely. All of these subs are desperation NL-only assets.

Cincinnati Reds manager Bryan Price said he will continue to use a platoon of OFs Ryan Ludwick, Skip Schumaker and Chris Heisey in left field for a while. Schumaker is starting in left Tuesday, June 3, but Price said it's his preference for Ludwick to do something to earn the starting job back.
Fantasy Tip: Until we see Ludwick get more time in left field, he shouldn't be an option for standard mixed league rosters. Schumaker and Heisey are only worth owning in NL-only leagues, too.

Cincinnati Reds OF Jay Bruce (knee) was placed on the 15-day disabled list with a torn meniscus in his left knee Tuesday, May 6, and OF Roger Bernadina was called up from Triple-A Louisville.
Fantasy Tip: Bernadina will mainly serve as the fourth outfielder with Bruce on the DL. Chris Heisey will benefit the most from regular playing time. Give Heisey serious consideration in mixed leagues.

Cincinnati Reds OF Jay Bruce (knee) will have surgery this week to repair a partially torn meniscus in his left knee. He's likely to miss three to four weeks.
Fantasy Tip: Chris Heisey replaces him in the lineup and is an add in deep mixed formats. Maybe Skip Schumaker or Roger Bernadina will contribute, as well, but they're hardly playable even in NL-only games.

Cincinnati Reds OF Jay Bruce (knee) was scratched from the starting lineup against the Milwaukee Brewers Sunday, May 4, because of left knee soreness. He was replaced in the lineup by OF Chris Heisey.

Cincinnati Reds OF Billy Hamilton (wrist) left the game early Thursday, May 1, after apparently injuring his wrist on a diving catch.
Fantasy Tip: It's unclear how seriously Hamilton is injured. Chris Heisey replaced Hamilton in center, and although he doesn't have much experience there, he'd be the team's best option to replace the speedster if he's out for an extended period of time. Roger Bernadina is another option, but his offensive skills aren't as intriguing as Heisey's with everyday playing time.

Cincinnati Reds OF Chris Heisey hit a grand slam, and C Devin Mesoraco drove in a career-high four runs Sunday, April 13.

Cincinnati Reds OF Chris Heisey went 2-for-3 with a home run and a double Saturday, March 15. He's hitting .412 with a 1.000 slugging percentage this spring. Heisey said he got a boost when he worked with New York Mets minor-league OF Joe Tuschak this offseason. "He has his hands real low," Heisey said. "He looks real relaxed. That's kind of what I've been trying to get to -- a place where I could be relaxed and loose."
Fantasy Tip: Heisey said he had a history of tinkering with his stance in the big leagues, but this one looks like a keeper. Heisey is Cincy's fourth outfielder, but with potential Billy Hamilton struggles at the plate and Ryan Ludwick's injury history and advanced age, Heisey could easily find 300 to 400 productive at-bats even as a reserve. He's a fine NL-only speculation and someone to watch post-draft in mixed leagues.

The Cincinnati Reds avoided arbitration with OF Chris Heisey Thursday, Jan. 16, by agreeing to a one-year, $1.76 million deal.
