Michael Shaw, of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, reports a federal judge in East St. Louis issues an order compelling free agent LB Mike Jones or a representative to show up in court in March to account for $42,000 that was supposed to help improve the area in Brooklyn, Mo. Jones' foundation was awarded a share of a $1 million fine in 2004 against the owner of a sex club where prostitution took place. Jones' foundation was given a deed to the property and the former linebacker suggested a gasoline station and convenience store be built, but no improvements were ever made. A building on the property was burned down several weeks ago. Court workers have been unable to reach Jones since then.

Steelers.com reports the Pittsburgh Steelers have signed LB Mike Jones (Raiders). Jones was signed because of a rash of injuries at the linebacker position. "He was here all last year. He knows the system," said coach Bill Cowher. "He was with the Raiders earlier. He was just released about three weeks ago. He is in playing condition. He will be a welcome sight. Our depth at that position has been hindered by injuries."

The Sacramento Bee reports Oakland Raiders LB Mike Jones (broken finger) returned to the field Sunday mornin for practice. He stayed out of most drills while wearing a cast on the pinkie finger of his right hand that he broke Friday morning.

Updating Saturday story, the San Francisco Chronicle reports Oakland Raiders LB Mike Jones (finger surgery) was back on the field Saturday, but he did not practice. He is expected to practice with his teammates Sunday.

The San Francisco Chronicle reports Oakland Raiders LB Mike Jones (broken finger) had surgery Friday. He fractured the pinkie finger of his right hand. Dr. Warren King inserted two pins to repair the fracture during a surgical procedure performed at Fremont Surgery Center. Jones could be ready to go Saturday.

John Ryan reports for the Mercury News there will be quite a battle in training camp at linebacker for the Oakland Raiders. MLB Greg Biekert will be the starter when the team plays their 4-3 allignment. The outside spots will be a battle amongst Travian Smith, Eric Barton, Bobby Brooks, Bill Romanowski, Mike Jones and Gerald Dixon. The team wants more than last year's 9.5 sacks from their linebackers. "We're a little bit more versatile, and we're applying a little bit more power from that position," Coach Bill Callahan said Friday.
