ThePittsburghChannel.com reports free agent LB Jason Gildon has a warrant out for him for one count of simple assault. Todd Artrell claims Gildon punched him above the eye, cutting him in the bathroom at a local bar on May 13 during a bar fight. The two wrestled for awhile at the Altar Bar until security and other bar patrons separated them, according to police. A second person claims Gildon stepped on her foot. Gildon told police he put another patron in a headlock to protect himself. He was not injured during the incident.

Allen Wilson, of the Buffalo News, reports Buffalo Bills LB Jason Gildon has played his entire NFL career in a 3-4 defense scheme, which means he'll have to adjust to the Bills' 4-3 base scheme. Gildon said he's prepared to play in whatever position the team puts him in. "I talked to (defensive coordinator Jerry) Gray and he definitely said he has some things that he feels I fit in," Gildon said. "I'm looking forward to working with him and he assured me that he's looking forward to working with me. Just being (in Pittsburgh) for 10 years, (people) tend to have an idea, 'Well, maybe he can only play in a certain defense.' But as a linebacker, I feel like I can play in any defense given the right situation."

The Buffalo Bills have signed LB Jason Gildon (Steelers) to a one-year contract worth around $1.25 million, according to John Clayton of ESPN.com. There are also around $500,000 worth of incentives in the contract. Gildon, 31, will compete with LB Jeff Posey for the strongside linebacking job, and may also be used as a pass-rushing defensive end in nickel situations.

Ed Bouchette, of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports the Pittsburgh Steelers found no takers in an attempt to trade LB Jason Gildon and will release him after June 1. By releasing him, the Steelers will be relieved of Gildon's $3.65 million salary and he will count $1.3 million against their salary cap in 2004. In 2005, he will count $2.6 million against the cap, the remaining two years of the prorated portion of his signing bonus.

The Associated Press reports Pittsburgh Steelers WR Hines Ward, upset at being shut out of the offense, pleaded with QB Tommy Maddox to "Throw me the ball," then upset some teammates with comments made during a team meeting. Ward acknowledged Wednesday, Oct. 8, that he yelled for the ball while being held to two catches in the Steelers' 33-13 loss to the Cleveland Browns on Sunday, Oct. 5. But he said his impromptu talk a day later was meant to motivate his teammates, not anger them. "It was definitely an unfortunate incident," Steelers LB Jason Gildon said. "Hines is a guy who definitely plays with a lot of passion. I think at that moment he was just experiencing a lot of frustration."

Ed Bouchette, of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, reports Pittsburgh Steelers LB Jason Gildon (knee) had some swelling in his knee after the Saturday, Aug. 16 pre-season game against the Philadelphia Eagles. An MRI on Sunday showed no damage in Gildon's left knee, which became stiff and had some fluid on it following the Aug. 16 game. Steelers head coach Bill Cowher said Gildon could miss the Thursday, Aug. 21 pre-season game against the Dallas Cowboys.
