Orioles | Chris Davis back in the lineup

Thu, 21 Jul 2016 08:36:31 -0700

Baltimore Orioles 1B Chris Davis (illness) returned to the lineup Thursday, July 21, hitting fifth.

Fantasy Tip: Crash has hit just .207 against CC Sabathia in 29 career at-bats. He has a .245-6-24 line in 102 at-bats against lefties, and his average is actually better than it is against righties. He's a high-end, boom-or-bust play.

Orioles | Chris Davis still out

Wed, 20 Jul 2016 14:00:30 -0700

Baltimore Orioles 1B Chris Davis (illness) is not in the starting lineup Wednesday, July 20. OF Nolan Reimold draws into the lineup in left field and is batting seventh against New York Yankees SP Michael Pineda Wednesday.

Fantasy Tip: This will be the third consecutive game Davis will miss, but with a few days of rest, he should be able to return Thursday, July 21. Continue to be patient with the elite fantasy slugger. Reimold is having a respectable season in limited duty with a .269/.333/.438 slash line and is a viable bench bat in cavernous mixed and AL-only leagues. View Reimold as a potential low-price flier for daily contests Wednesday, too.

Orioles | Chris Davis, Matt Wieters out

Tue, 19 Jul 2016 13:38:14 -0700

Baltimore Orioles 1B Chris Davis (illness) and C Matt Wieters (foot) are not in the starting lineup against New York Yankees SP Nathan Eovaldi Tuesday, July 19. C Caleb Joseph will start at catcher and is batting eighth. 2B Ryan Flaherty will start at first base and is hitting ninth.

Fantasy Tip: Joseph and Flaherty have not had much success at the plate this season and should be avoided in most fantasy leagues.

Orioles | Chris Davis out with stomach virus

Mon, 18 Jul 2016 14:40:45 -0700

Updating a previous report, Baltimore Orioles 1B Chris Davis (illness) is not in the starting lineup Monday, July 18, because of a stomach virus. He visited a hospital to receive fluids Sunday, July 17.

Fantasy Tip: Davis could miss a couple games, but there is no reason to make any lineups moves other than subbing him out of your starting lineup until he returns. It's been more of the same from the slugger this season, as he sits with 22 bombs and 58 RBI for the campaign. Stay tuned for updates.

Orioles | Chris Davis sitting vs. Yankees

Mon, 18 Jul 2016 12:53:58 -0700

Baltimore Orioles 1B Chris Davis is not in the starting lineup Monday, July 18. 3B Ryan Flaherty is starting at first base and batting ninth against New York Yankees SP Ivan Nova Monday.

Fantasy Tip: It's likely just a routine day off for Davis, and the elite slugger is having another big season in the power categories with 22 home runs and 58 RBI. Flaherty is a low-end option in all fantasy formats given his career .218/.286/.364 slash line, so don't fret ignoring him in daily contests Monday.

Orioles | Another homer for Chris Davis

Sat, 02 Jul 2016 23:41:12 -0700

Baltimore Orioles SP Chris Davis went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run, a walk, two runs scored and three RBIs Saturday, July 2, against the Seattle Mariners.

Fantasy Tip: Davis has been on a power tear lately, swatting five homers with 12 RBIs over the past seven games. While he is still hitting just .247 overall, he raised his average 34 points just since June 6. Needless to say, he is a must-start fantasy option in all formats and DFS play regardless of price tag.

Orioles | Chris Davis hits first-inning grand slam

Sun, 26 Jun 2016 14:58:58 -0700

Baltimore Orioles 1B Chris Davis connected on his seventh career grand slam Sunday, June 26, against the Tampa Bay Rays. Davis finished his day 2-for-4 with a walk and scored twice.

Fantasy Tip: His seven grand slams since 2011 are the most in the majors over that time. Davis has homered in back-to-back contests after failing to leave the yard in his previous 11. Still, he's enjoying his finest month of the season so far, batting .280 with eight home runs and 22 RBI to go along with 22 runs scored. Davis is obviously elite option in the power categories and needs to remain in lineups, even if the Orioles travel to Petco Park for the first of two games against the San Diego Padres beginning on Tuesday.

Orioles | Chris Davis homers in fifth straight

Sun, 12 Jun 2016 14:08:51 -0700

Baltimore Orioles 1B Chris Davis continued to torment the Toronto Blue Jays on Sunday, June 12, going deep for a fifth straight game - one shy of the club record he owns along with Reggie Jackson (1976) - with a two-run blast. Davis has 17 home runs in 44 career games at Rogers Centre and 35 homers against the Blue Jays since 2008, more than any other opponent.

Fantasy Tip: Davis' .228 average and 84 strikeouts - third-most in the majors - are eyesores, but 16 home runs, 39 RBI and 46 runs scored after 61 games will play in any fantasy league. The strikeouts are unlikely to slow down based on his prodigious totals in that area the last four seasons, but he's a good bet to increase his average in short order and maintain his pace in the power categories. Even though he has struggled this season against the Boston Red Sox - the Orioles' next opponent - keep Davis active in all leagues.

Orioles | Chris Davis goes deep again

Fri, 10 Jun 2016 19:15:08 -0700

Baltimore Orioles 1B Chris Davis homered for the third straight game, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and a walk in a 4-3 loss to the Toronto Blue Jays Friday, June 10.

Fantasy Tip: Davis is a boom-or-bust fantasy option, but his power is undeniable. Take a chance on him in daily formats while he is locked in.
