Orioles | Chris Davis on a tear

Fri, 29 May 2015 20:33:22 -0700

Baltimore Orioles 1B Chris Davis went 2-for-3 with a solo home run and a walk in a 2-1 win over the Tampa Bay Rays Friday, May 29, and he has four home runs in his last four games.

Fantasy Tip: During the stretch, Davis ($3,400, 6.8% of cap) has seven RBIs and has scored five runs. He is a streaky, all-or-nothing hitter, but you might want to try to ride his hot streak for another game or two at FantasyScore.

Orioles | Chris Davis homers again

Thu, 28 May 2015 15:10:47 -0700

Baltimore Orioles 1B Chris Davis homered for the third time in two games, Thursday, May 28. Davis hit a two-run home run in the ninth inning of Game 1 of Thursday's doubleheader.

Fantasy Tip: Davis ($3,400, 6.8% of cap) went 2-for-5 in the game with a walk, a double, a home run, two runs scored, three RBI and zero strikeouts. Davis is up to 11 homers on the season, and his upside has returned on FantasyScore. Season-long owners willing to accept a drastic hit to their batting average should target Davis in trades.

Orioles | Chris Davis homers twice

Wed, 27 May 2015 17:53:33 -0700

Baltimore Orioles 1B Chris Davis hit two home runs Wednesday, May 27, against the Houston Astros.

Fantasy Tip: Davis ($3,400, 6.8% of cap) ended a 13-game homer-less drought, and he had hit just three doubles in that stretch. Davis continues to strikeout at a high rate, and he's a boom or bust FantasyScore option. Owners should be staying away, as the booms have been few and far between.

Orioles | Chris Davis sitting out

Mon, 25 May 2015 08:26:40 -0700

Baltimore Orioles 1B Chris Davis is not in the starting lineup Monday, May 25. INF Steve Pearce will start at first base.

Fantasy Tip: Davis ($4,000, 8.0% of cap) is not in the lineup for the first time since opening day. Pearce ($3,000, 6.0% of cap) has only five hits in his last nine games and is batting .188 for the season. Owners on FantasyScore should be able to find better options to use.

Orioles | Chris Davis piling up strikeouts

Thu, 07 May 2015 21:02:56 -0700

Baltimore Orioles 1B Chris Davis struck out in all four plate appearances in a 4-3 loss to the New York Yankees Thursday, May 7, and he has struck out a combined 17 times in his last seven games.

Fantasy Tip: Despite all the strikeouts, Davis ($4,000, 8.0% of cap) does have two home runs and five RBIs during the same seven-game stretch. Even at his best, Davis tends to strikeout a lot, but his power potential keeps him relevant at FantasyScore. He is a gamble, but he is a gamble with plenty of upside.

Orioles | Chris Davis hits against Boston

Mon, 27 Apr 2015 00:49:50 -0700

Baltimore Orioles 1B Chris Davis completed the Boston Red Sox series Sunday, April 26, having gone 5-for-11 with two home runs, a double, a walk and six runs batted in.

Fantasy Tip: Davis ($4,000, 8.0% of cap) had been off to a slow start, so this might help him regain some confidence. As long as his salary is lower, it is worth paying to put him in the lineup.

Orioles | Chris Davis off to slow start

Mon, 20 Apr 2015 08:16:19 -0700

Baltimore Orioles 1B Chris Davis is 11-for-45 (.244) with two homers and seven RBI in his first 12 games. He has struck out 21 times and walked once.

Fantasy Tip: Davis ($4,000, 8.0% of your cap) is an all-or-nothing kind of player right now and is probably relegated to matchup plays on FantasyScore.

Orioles | Chris Davis dropped in order

Tue, 14 Apr 2015 13:48:52 -0700

Baltimore Orioles 1B Chris Davis was dropped to sixth in the batting order Tuesday, April 14, against the New York Yankees.

Fantasy Tip: Davis ($4,000, 8% of cap) is slumping to start the season, and Steve Pearce ($2,800, 5.6% of cap) is batting fourth. Davis struck out four times on Monday, April 13, so he should be avoided until whatever slump he is in is over.

Orioles | Chris Davis back Tuesday

Tue, 07 Apr 2015 13:30:52 -0700

Baltimore Orioles 1B Chris Davis has served his full suspension and will be back in the lineup Tuesday, April 7, against the Tampa Bay Rays. C Steve Clevenger was sent to Triple-A Norfolk.

Fantasy Tip: Davis ($4,700, 9.4% of cap) didn't have the best of seasons last year, and this was before the suspension at the end of the year. Davis should have a favorable matchup with Tampa Bay SP Nathan Karns, so he is worth picking up for Tuesday's game.

Orioles | Chris Davis beginning on restricted list

Thu, 02 Apr 2015 13:10:16 -0700

Baltimore Orioles 1B Chris Davis will begin the season on the restricted list and miss opening day Monday, April 6.

Fantasy Tip: Make sure to avoid Davis ($4,700, 9.4% of cap) in FantasyScore's opening day contests. He is a nice upside play at his price point when he returns, though. Especially against right-handing pitching, as he has a career .852 OPS against them. Expect a bounce-back year from Davis in seasonal leagues, too. He is an excellent mid-round power option in drafts.
