Nationals | Stephen Strasburg lifted early

Sun, 30 Aug 2015 14:30:09 -0700

Washington Nationals SP Stephen Strasburg was lifted from the team's game Sunday, Aug. 30, against the Miami Marlins after four innings and 60 pitches. RP Doug Fister finished the game and got the win.

Fantasy Tip: Strasburg ($9,000, 18.0% of cap) gave up four runs on seven hits, so the thinking may have been to lift him and save his pitching arm and shoulder. The team isn't saying anything yet about limiting his innings, so he should be back to normal for his next start.

Nationals | Stephen Strasburg starting Saturday

Thu, 06 Aug 2015 17:17:23 -0700

Washington Nationals SP Stephen Strasburg (oblique) will come off the disabled list and start against the Colorado Rockies Saturday, Aug. 8. SP Doug Fister heads to the bullpen as a result, according to manager Matt Williams.

Fantasy Tip: As dangerous as the Rockies can be at home, they aren't the same formidable offense on the road (.685 OPS). Strasburg ($7,300, 14.6% of cap) is certainly attractive to FantasyScore gamers Saturday night in his first start back off the DL, since most owners will look to avoid him. Strasburg had been pitching very well before going on the DL.

Nationals | Joe Ross will stay in rotation

Thu, 06 Aug 2015 16:50:56 -0700

Washington Nationals SP Joe Ross will remain in the starting rotation, while SP Doug Fister will move to the bullpen.

Fantasy Tip: Ross ($6,600, 13.2% of cap) hasn't allowed more than three earned runs in any of his seven starts this season, and he has struck out at least seven batters four times. Fister ($5,600, 11.2% of cap) can be stashed in NL-only leagues, but he can dropped in shallower mixed leagues.

Nationals | Stephen Strasburg lined up for Saturday

Thu, 06 Aug 2015 12:49:35 -0700

Washington Nationals SP Stephen Strasburg (oblique) is likely to be activated from the disabled list to start against the Colorado Rockies Saturday, Aug. 8. However, manager Matt Williams hasn't made it official yet. Strasburg has been out since July 4 with a strained left oblique muscle, and he's sporting a 5.16 ERA in 13 starts this season. However, he gave up just two runs in 15 2/3 innings while striking out 18 in his time in between DL stints. SP Doug Fister could be bumped out of the rotation when Strasburg returns. SP Joe Ross is a candidate to be sent back to the minors, too.

Fantasy Tip: The Nats are home against the Rockies Saturday night, which makes it more palatable to use Strasburg ($7,300, 14.6% of cap) on FantasyScore in his first start back from the DL.

Nationals | Doug Fister bitten by Snakes

Mon, 03 Aug 2015 20:23:45 -0700

Washington Nationals SP Doug Fister allowed five earned runs, eight hits and no walks with six strikeouts over six innings in a loss Monday, Aug. 3, against the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Fantasy Tip: Fister ($5,600, 11.2% of cap) had a 2.87 ERA on May 9, but he has managed just three quality starts over his past nine outings. FantasyScore players simply cannot trust him, as he has been extremely hittable for the better part of three months.

Nationals | Doug Fister struggling since return

Thu, 23 Jul 2015 18:02:09 -0700

Washington Nationals SP Doug Fister has racked up an ERA of 4.72 in six starts since he returned from the disabled list June 18.

Fantasy Tip: Fister ($5,600, 11.2% of cap) currently has a career-low K/9 of 4.17, and he has his highest walk rate since 2009 with the Seattle Mariners. Fister's floor and ceiling are far too low to consider him on FantasyScore.

Nationals | Doug Fister solid against CIN

Mon, 06 Jul 2015 04:30:06 -0700

Washington Nationals SP Doug Fister makes a start against the Cincinnati Reds on Monday, July 6. Fister is 2-0 with a 1.29 ERA against Cincinnati.

Fantasy Tip: Fister ($6,000, 12.0% of cap) should be started in a situation like this. He appears to have the Reds' number, so trust the statistics and give Fister a chance in FantasyScore.

Nationals | Doug Fister tosses a gem

Thu, 25 Jun 2015 20:09:34 -0700

Washington Nationals SP Doug Fister allowed four hits and struck out four over seven scoreless innings in a win over the Atlanta Braves Thursday, June 25.

Fantasy Tip: Fister ($4,800, 9.6% of cap) was making his second start since coming off the disabled list, and he performed much better than he did in his first outing. Overall, Fister has been shaky this season, so wait until he delivers a couple of more solid starts before trusting him at FantasyScore.

Nationals | Doug Fister faces tough matchup

Wed, 17 Jun 2015 19:13:41 -0700

Washington Nationals SP Doug Fister (forearm) will come off the 15-day disabled list and return to the rotation Thursday, June 17, against the Tampa Bay Rays. He faces a difficult matchup against Rays SP Chris Archer, who is 5-0 with a 0.51 ERA in five road outings this season.

Fantasy Tip: It might be a good idea for FantasyScore players to hold off on Fister ($4,800; or 9.6% of cap) given the fact he is coming off an injury and he is facing a tough matchup.

Nationals | Doug Fister to start Thursday

Tue, 16 Jun 2015 16:29:00 -0700

Washington Nationals SP Doug Fister (forearm) is scheduled to start against the Tampa Bay Rays Thursday, June 18.

Fantasy Tip: Fister ($4,800, 9.6% of cap) has not started since May because of his forearm injury but will return this week. Owners on FantasyScore may want to see how he performs in this start before considering him a starting option.
