Steelers | New faces on defense

When organized team activities (OTAs) open Tuesday, May 21, the Pittsburgh Steelers will have at least three new faces among the starters. LB Jason Worilds is in for the departed James Harrison (Bengals) at outside lineback, NT Steve McLendon is in for free-agent Casey Hampton at nose tackle, and CB Cortez Allen takes over for CB Keenan Lewis (Saints) at cornerback.

Steelers | Not ruling out re-signing two FAs

Steelers | Casey Hampton plans to play one more year

Updating a previous report, Pittsburgh Steelers DL Casey Hampton said he plans to play at least one more season, if not for the Steelers, then for another NFL team. The Steelers are prepared to move on without him despite the fact he started all 16 games in 2012.

Steelers | Casey Hampton ready to move on

Pittsburgh Steelers DT Casey Hampton thinks he can play a few more years, and he said he could definitely see himself playing for another team in order to make that happen. Hampton will be an unrestricted free agent next season. He is the oldest player on the current defense at 35 years old.

The Pittsburgh Steelers have the oldest starting defense in the NFL, with an average age of 30.1 years. Pittsburgh has seven projected starters over 30 years old: DE Brett Keisel (33), DT Casey Hampton (34), LBs James Harrison (34) and Larry Foote (32), CB Ike Taylor (32), FS Ryan Clark (32) and SS Troy Polamalu (31).

Steelers | Casey Hampton pushes himself

Pittsburgh Steelers NT Casey Hampton (knee, elbow) has not played in the preseason, but he went through his most extensive practice Monday, Aug. 27, since coming off the Physically-Unable-to-Perform (PUP) list. "It felt good to be out there," said Hampton. "I didn't practice the whole camp so it felt good to be out there." Head coach Mike Tomlin said he was uncertain if Hampton would see snaps in the preseason finale. However, Hampton vowed to be ready for the Week 1 game against the Denver Broncos.
