Padres | Ian Kennedy to start Saturday

Thu, 23 Apr 2015 09:53:33 -0700

San Diego Padres SP Ian Kennedy (hamstring) will come off the disabled list to start against the Los Angeles Dodgers Saturday, April 25.

Fantasy Tip: Kennedy ($5,600, 11.2% of cap) wasn't dealing with a serious hamstring ailment, so he should be good to use for FantasyScore users Saturday. However, you may want to avoid him in his first start back against one of the better overall teams in the league. Odrisamer Despaigne ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) will move back to a long relief role out of the bullpen, and that kills his short-term fantasy appeal in standard leagues.

Padres | Ian Kennedy looks good

Mon, 20 Apr 2015 20:31:16 -0700

Updating a previous report, San Diego Padres SP Ian Kennedy (hamstring) threw 81 pitches over six innings in an extended spring training appearance Monday, April 20. Manager Bud Black was happy with the result. "He looked good, (threw) all his pitches," Black said. "He had a few strikeouts. They nicked him for a couple of runs, but overall he's throwing the ball good, no issues with the hamstring."

Fantasy Tip: Kennedy is eligible to come off the 15-day disabled list April 25. FantasyScore owners will want to wait to see him officially return and pitch a full game without any setbacks before trusting him at $5,600 (or 11.2% of the cap).

Padres | Ian Kennedy tosses six innings

Mon, 20 Apr 2015 14:56:43 -0700

San Diego Padres SP Ian Kennedy (hamstring) threw 81 pitches through six innings during his extended spring training start Monday, April 20.

Fantasy Tip: Barring a setback, it would appear Kennedy ($5,600, 11.2% of cap) is set to return to the rotation sooner than later. It might be wise to avoid him in his first start back from the disabled list while he works out any kinks. He has great upside at his cap hit for FantasyScore players, though, and especially at home in pitcher-friendly PETCO Park.

Padres | Ian Kennedy throws another 'pen session

Fri, 17 Apr 2015 09:05:52 -0700

San Diego Padres SP Ian Kennedy (hamstring) threw another bullpen session Friday, April 17, without issues. He'll throw 75-90 pitches in an appearance at extended spring training Monday, April 27.

Fantasy Tip: At that pitch count, Kennedy should be stretched out enough to return barring setbacks. At $5,600 (11.2% of your cap), Kennedy is one of those second starters on FantasyScore that can deliver SP1 production.

Padres | Ian Kennedy's rehab schedule

Wed, 15 Apr 2015 15:14:01 -0700

San Diego Padres SP Ian Kennedy (hamstring) will pitch a bullpen session Wednesday, April 15, and Friday, April 17. Then he will pitch in a minor league game Monday, April 20.

Fantasy Tip: Continue to stash Kennedy in all formats. He is a nice source of strikeouts, and he pitches in a favorably home environment. Make sure to check back for updates on his recovery and an official announcement on when he'll rejoin the rotation. Given it isn't an arm injury, there is less risk returning Kennedy to your lineups immediately upon his return, too.

Padres | Ian Kennedy placed on DL

Fri, 10 Apr 2015 15:31:51 -0700

San Diego Padres SP Ian Kennedy (hamstring) was placed on the disabled list Friday, April 10.

Fantasy Tip: As expected, Kennedy lands on the DL, but fantasy owners can be thankful it isn't an arm injury. He should be stashed in the majority of leagues. Daily players will want to keep tabs on Odrisamer Despaigne ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) who should fill in during Kennedy's absence. In favorable matchups, Despaigne should be on your radar for usage in FantasyScore contests.

Padres | Ian Kennedy headed to DL

Fri, 10 Apr 2015 10:25:31 -0700

San Diego Padres SP Ian Kennedy (hamstring) will likely be heading to the disabled list.

Fantasy Tip: The good news is that Kennedy's ($5,600, 11.2% of cap) isn't related to his arm. Stash him in a DL spot in standard fantasy leagues. Odrisamer Despaigne ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) is the likely replacement for Kennedy in the rotation, and he promptly put up a great performance in relief against the San Francisco Giants Thursday. Despaigne will be a low-priced option at FantasyScore with the right matchup.

Padres | Hamstring strain for Ian Kennedy

Thu, 09 Apr 2015 16:23:17 -0700

Updating a previous report, San Diego Padres SP Ian Kennedy (hamstring) suffered a left hamstring strain that forced him from his season debut Thursday, April 9, against the San Francisco Giants.

Fantasy Tip: It's unknown if this injury will keep Kennedy ($6,600, 13.2% of cap) from making his next start. Stay tuned on his progress and the severity of his hammy pull. If Kennedy needs to miss some time or go on the disabled list, Odrisamer Despaigne ($3,000, 6.0% of cap), who relieved Kennedy Thursday, is an obvious candidate to enter the rotation.

Padres | Ian Kennedy hurt in debut

Thu, 09 Apr 2015 15:34:47 -0700

San Diego Padres SP Ian Kennedy (undisclosed) was removed from the team's home opener against the San Francisco Giants Thursday, April 9, in the third inning. SP Odrisamer Despaigne is replacing Kennedy.

Fantasy Tip: Kennedy ($6,600, 13.2% of cap) wasn't a bad play at FantasyScore Wednesday, but this ruins any value he might've had. Stay tuned for the severity of his injury, but it looked like he was grabbing at his back. If he needs to miss any time, Despaigne ($3,000, 6.0% of cap) could be asked to enter the rotation.
